Presidential Initiative for Artificial Intelligence and Computing

In December 2018, the Honorable President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi, launched the
Presidential Initiative for Artificial Intelligence and Computing. The mission of PIAIC is
to reshape Pakistan by revolutionizing education, research, and business by adopting
latest, cutting-edge technologies. Experts are calling this the 4th industrial revolution.
Pakistan will become a global hub for AI, data science, cloud native computing, edge
computing, blockchain, augmented reality, and internet of things.

In the first phase, PIAIC will start classes in Karachi. Over the course of the year, classes
will also begin in Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta, and Peshawar. Important updates are
always reflected on our official website (​www.piaic.org​). You may also join our facebook
group to stay up to date on all announcements and may also ask any questions related to

VERIFIED APPLICANTS IN KARACHI 

Registration for classes in Karachi was opened on December 12, 2018 and closed on
January 12, 2019. In the first month of operations PIAIC received 17,430 verified
applications in Karachi alone. These students will be selected for classes based on
entrance exam scores.

Testing Schedule

Due to the overwhelming response, to accommodate all applicants PIAIC will conduct 3
entrance exams of 17,430 candidates.

Entrance Exam Batch 1: Sunday, January 20, 2019 at 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Note:​ All female students will participate in Entrance Exam Batch 1 on January 20, 2019
at 8 AM.

To find out your testing date and time, please find the Roll Number on your attested
admit card in one of these lists to find out when your entrance exam is scheduled:

Please note the following rules:

1. Please bring your original NIC. If you do not have an NIC, please bring your
B-Form along with a copy of your Father’s NIC. If you are applying to PIAIC
along with your sibling(s) who also don’t have an NIC, please report to the
stadium in a group and let the PIAIC staff know.
2. Phones are not allowed inside the stadium. Please leave your phones at home,
there will be no phone collection at the venue.
3. Bags are not allowed inside the stadium. Please do not bring them, there will be
no baggage collection at the venue.
4. Calculators are not allowed. You will not need a calculator for any question in the
test.
5. You may bring a hardboard to help you write on the test paper.
6. Please bring two blue ballpoint pens. Only blue is acceptable, use of any other
color ink will result in incorrect scoring of your answer sheet by the computer.
7. Due to increased high security and a large quantity of people present at the
venue, there’s no waiting area outside for anyone who will wait for the students.
Security forces will ask you to clear the area. If you absolutely have to wait, then
you may do so at the parking near Regent Plaza.
8. There will be parking space available near Regent Plaza, our staff will be placed
throughout the area to guide you.

 
 

Where to Report

1. All male students must report to the rear entrance of the stadium. Please use the
Jinnah Hospital route to enter the Stadium grounds from the rear.

2. All female students must report to the main entrance of the stadium. Female
students may use the main entrance of the stadium. Please note that vehicles are
not permitted inside. The drop off location is off of main Shahrah-e-Faisal Road.
The pick up point will be the parking area near Regent Plaza.

 
 

About the Test

The PIAIC entrance test is composed of 30 questions distributed into three sections:

1. English & Comprehension (5 Questions)


2. Math & IQ (22 Questions)
3. General Knowledge (3 Questions)

The English & Comprehension section tests the students ability to read, analyze, and
comprehend the information contained within a passage of text. Students will be asked
MCQ based questions to measure the student’s ability to understand key points from
written text.

The Math & IQ section tests the student’s logic and intelligence quotient. Students will
be asked MCQ based questions to measure the student’s intelligence in the areas of
pattern recognition, logical reasoning, and basic mathematics.

The General Knowledge section tests the student’s knowledge of the history of the
Islamic Republic of Pakistan. These MCQ based questions measure the student’s
knowledge of historical figures and events.
