In electronics and electrical engineering, a fuse is an electrical safety device that operates to provide
overcurrent protection of an electrical circuit including the source of power and the load. Its essential
component is a metal wire or strip that melts when too much current flows through it, thereby
interrupting the current. It is a sacrificial device and once a fuse has operated it is an open circuit, and it
must be replaced or rewired, depending on type.
Types of fuse
1.Cartridge Fuses
4.SMD Fuses
5.Axial Fuses
6.Thermal Fuses
Resistor
Types of Rrsistor
1. Linear Resistors: Those resistors, which values change with the applied voltage and temperature, are
called linear resistors.
1. 1. Fixed Resistors
1. 2. Variable Resistors
1. 1. Fixed Resistors: As the name tells everything, fixed resistor is a resistor which has a specific value
and we can’t change the value of fixed resistors.
1. 2) Variable Resistors: As the name indicates, those resistors which values can be changed through a
dial, knob, and screw or manually by a proper method.
1. Potentiometers
2. Rheostats
3. Trimmers
LED
A light-emitting diode (LED) is a two-leadsemiconductor light source. It is a p–n junctiondiode that emits
light when activated. When a suitable voltage is applied to the leads, electrons are able to recombine
with electron holes within the device, releasing energy in the form of photons. This effect is called
electroluminescence, and the color of the light (corresponding to the energy of the photon) is
determined by the energy band gap of the semiconductor.
Transformer
A transformer is an electrical device that transfers electrical energy between two or more circuits
through electromagnetic induction. A varying current in one coil of the transformer produces a varying
magnetic field, which in turn induces a voltage in a second coil. Power can be transferred between the
two coils through the magnetic field, without a metallic connection between the two
circuits.Transformers are used to increase or decrease the alternating voltages in electric power
applications.
Circuit
Diode
A diode is a two-terminal electronic component that conducts primarily in one direction (asymmetric
conductance); it has low (ideally zero) resistance to the current in one direction, and high (ideally
infinite) resistance in the other. A semiconductor diode, the most common type today, is a crystalline
piece of semiconductor material with a p–n junction connected to two electrical terminals.[5] A vacuum
tube diode has two electrodes, a plate (anode) and a heated cathode.
