    Core Surcharge Criteria – CAT engines

    Ancillary parts
    The following parts are not shipped with an engine and should be removed from
    your core prior to return:
    • -Starters
    • -Alternator and Belt
    • -Air Cleaner and Boots
    • -Fans and Drive Group
    • -A/C, A/C Brackets, and Belts
    • -Belt Tensioner Group
    • -Rear engine mounts
    • -Front cross member/Mounts

    Core surcharge schedule


    Below is the schedule of surcharges for returned cores. The engine will be
    disassembled and a core surcharge report submitted to you within 10 days of
    receiving the core. Any parts that are subject to surcharge will be kept for 30 days
    and can be returned at your expense on request.

    Core Surcharge Core Evaluation Criteria

    $0 Core meets the following criteria:

    - Complete assembly and “As Removed” condition


    Returned in shipping container
    - Same arrangement number as component sold or
    agreed in writing by SRC of Lexington
    - Core must be tagged with completed Reman Core
    Return Card.
    - Cylinder block reusable
    - Camshaft(s) reusable
    - Crankshaft reusable (must be STD or 0.025”US after
    polish/regrind)
    - Cylinder head(s) can be reused and have not been
    welded

    Current CAT list price Core meets all criteria above except:
    to SRC per item
    - Cylinder block cannot be reused due to damage,
    excessive wear or being below minimum deck height
    after machining
    - Camshaft(s) cannot be reused after polish or grinding
    - Crankshaft cannot be reused at either STD or 0.025”US
    after polishing or grinding
    - Cylinder head(s) cannot be reused due to damage,
    excessive wear, being below minimum height after
    machining or having previously been welded
    - Missing parts
