• Breast cancer ranks as the number ONE cancer among Indian females
• Breast cancer accounts for 25% to 32% of all female cancers in India
https://boingboing.net/2011/12/14/bse.html
Reasons for late detection
• Breast Health Check is not part of routine health check-up
• Some women are shy, others scared of outcome, most wrongly believe that if they don’t have
family history then they are not at risk
• Few women may go for self or clinical physical examination which may identify lumps in 50-
60% of cases only
• Most women go for mammography only when symptomatic, and on an average most
'symptomatic' cancers are stage 2B and beyond (significant numbers in stages 3 or 4)
• In the West, majority of breast cancers (read more than 75%) are detected early in
in stages 1 and 2 due to regular examination, resulting in good survival
• Generally mammography is recommended after 40 years of age for breast examination due to
exposure to radiation
• Some patients find mammography uncomfortable and painful if multiple positions and
pressure is required for a robust test depending on size and density of breast

Clinical Validation of iBreastExam
• Total 4 studies, 4000+ women enrolled
• Publications in IJGO April 2016 & WJSO Oct 2016
• Sensitivity of around 84% comparable to 91% of mammography hence
iBreastExam is recommended atleast once in a year
• Specificity of around 74% hence after getting a positive result of
iBreastExam, targeted USG is recommended followed by FNAC/Biopsy as
all lumps are not malignant. Same clinical pathway is followed after
Mammography also.
• iBreastExam sensitivity is 19% better than expert clinical breast
examination
