Foreword

It is a great pleasure to lead this visit to India and I am proud to be

accompanied by a Dutch business delegation with knowledge and
expertise in various sectors such as agriculture and water. I am pleased
that the Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation,
Lilianne Ploumen and the Minister for Agriculture, Sharon Dijksma will
join us during this timely visit that will further strengthen political and
economic ties between the Netherlands and India.

For those participants who are already operating in the Indian market, this
mission presents an opportunity to expand their network. For others, this
mission can be an excellent first introduction to the Indian market and
Mark Rutte potential partners.
Prime Minister
The Netherlands and India have enjoyed centuries of friendship and trade;
the first Dutch traders set foot on the Indian sub-continent in around
1615. India, as the maritime and aviation hub for South Asia, parallels the
Dutch experience as the gateway to Europe. Our strategic position, each
on our own continent, thus creates opportunities to work with each other.

The Indo-Dutch relationship is shaped by government-to-government

relations, but also by excellent contacts between our business
communities. At the moment, the Netherlands is a top 5 investor in India
and India is the fifth largest investor in the Netherlands. Our bilateral trade
amounts to around 6 billion Euros, and continues to grow. Export from
the Netherlands to India, for example, grew by 3% in 2014. Our countries
are working together in a number of areas, including agriculture, water
management, logistics, urban planning, life sciences, healthcare, sports
and CSR. Various Dutch multinationals and SME’s are based in India, and
many have set up their R&D centres there too.

There is however scope for more and this mission will enable you to meet
with your Indian counterparts and exchange knowledge and expertise. It
will also facilitate the establishment of new cooperation agreements and
will provide an outstanding occasion to explore new opportunities.

I am confident that, under the capable guidance of Hans de Boer as

Leader of the Business Delegation and President of VNO-NCW, your
meetings in New Delhi and Mumbai will boost trade and investment.

Let’s together advance the friendship and good relations between the
Netherlands and India and strengthen the basis for economic growth!

I wish you all an inspiring and successful mission in New Delhi and
Mumbai.

Mark Rutte
Prime Minister of the Kingdom of the Netherlands

Foreword

The Republic of India and the Kingdom of the Netherlands have always
maintained a very good relationship. Now, more than ever, there are
reasons to further strengthen this relationship. While both countries have
their own characteristics, they nevertheless have important features in
common. And there is a solid basis for mutual respect. The Netherlands
is intrigued and impressed by India, by its history, its culture, its people,
its economic development, its size and its huge potential for future
development. The Netherlands is, although infinitely small in geographic
terms when compared to India, a technologically highly advanced,
innovative, very efficient medium-sized economy with a high standard
of living, an always surprising entrepreneurial spirit and a centuries old
Hans de Boer tradition in international trade and investment. Together with its function
President of the Confederation of as gateway to Europe, this has provided our country with an outstanding
Netherlands Industry and Employers economic position in Europe as well as in the world. The mutual
characteristics and advantages of India and the Netherlands can in their
combination provide great opportunities.

The economic mission of Prime Minister Mark Rutte to India is combined

with a visit of the Minister for Foreign Trade and Development
Cooperation, Lilianne Ploumen and the Minister for Agriculture, Sharon
Dijksma as well as a strong business delegation representing a variety of
high performing sectors such as agri-food and water.

This economic mission thus provides a great opportunity for both

governments as well as business parties to examine the potential for
mutually advantageous future co-operation and to lay the foundations
for increasing the economic relations between our two countries. During
the wide range of seminars, company visits, matchmaking events, trade
dinners, bilateral policy meetings and focused discussions on topics like
infrastructure, health care, and innovation, Dutch and Indian businesses
can their knowledge and aspirations. I encourage businesses of both
countries to explore to the full the opportunities to strengthen their
relationships and I am confident that this economic mission will be of
great added value to that end.

In 2050 we live with 9 billion people on this earth. All these people need a
healthy plate of food. And this is a huge problem. Up till now our reaction
was to create agricultural grounds by cutting down more forests. Or to let
our planet suffer under more intensive cultivation.
But what people don’t know is that more than 40% of the crops that grow
Frank Bakker on our fields don’t end up in an eating bowl.
Managing Director

Contronics makes mist….

We use this natural phenomenon to cool, humidify and disinfect fresh
food. From harvest till supermarket displays, in slaughterhouses, bakeries
and in the food production industry. Under our mist blanket fresh food
stays fresh for much longer. Quality of the product stays high, shelve
times are more than doubled, packaging not necessary, energy is saved.
But the most important aspect is that the unnecessary waste flow of fresh
food is cut in half.

The humidifiers are unique in the world. We are the only company that
produces such systems. We are the inventors and with > 25.000 systems
in operation the market leader by far in this field.

In South Africa we started cooperation with a company that produces an

all natural disinfectant. This disinfectant is nebulised and combined with
our humidification technique.

Trials in meat, bread and grapes showed exceptional results.

We are now implementing this revolutionary technique in Europe.
We like to get in contact with all people that are interested in the
implementation in India and can advise us how our objectives can be
achieved best.

Edukans advises companies, governments and educational institutes on
good-quality relevant skills training and education including guidance at
the level of implementation. Edukans is active in low- and middle- income
countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America and works with local partner
organisations.
Pieternella Teeuwen
Senior Education Advisor
Edukans facilitates programmes that contribute to the improvement of
vocational education and training through supporting projects set up
by cross sectorial partnerships which enhance the relevance of training
vis-à-vis the labour market and stimulates the link between the education
sector and the market.

Edukans contributes to sustainable chain development and provides

relevant trainings to small farmers’ organisations. Edukans specifically
focuses on children and teenagers in order to interest them in and train
them for work in agriculture. For many countries agriculture is their
main source of income, but often young people see employment in
agriculture as unattractive, even though there are good opportunities for
entrepreneurs. Edukans shows these opportunities and thus contributes
to the promotion of working in agriculture.

The success factors of a quality training:

• The starting point is the need of the labour market

• Match between the learning results and the required skills on the job
market through involvement of private sector
• Recognition of the curriculum.

Edukans has experience in improving the quality of education around the

world and is able to enhance the relevance of education in a variety of
contexts.

Expertise for the dairy sector

Liquid manure has a negative impact on soil fertility. In Europe strict laws
are implemented to reduce the spread of manure on the land. Serigas
developed a manure processing system that processes manure into
energy, organic fertilizer and clean water.
Vijay Kumar
Chairman of the Board Anticipating stricter laws for manure, research was started in 2010 in
Bangalore and Voorschoten on the manure problem. In 2012 a successful
pilot was constructed in Zeewolde.

Clean Water
The biggest challenge is to produce clean water that can be used as
process water or drinking water. At Serigas’ request a new system was
developed by SERI that removes complex organic compounds from waste
streams.

Anita Bhagwandas Energy

Public Communication Officer The organic compound in manure can be converted in bio gas. However
biogas contains many pollutants. Serigas developed a system that
produces clean green gas at competitive prices without subsidy.

Minerals & Nutrients

Serigas developed a system that reclaims minerals and nutrients from
the manure. Together with the bio based economy group from the Dutch
agricultural University in Wageningen further development takes place.
