RESEARCH INTRODUCTION
1.0 INTRODUCTION
As the new curriculum was introduced by the government, it brought about new
features such as sports education in all schools in Zimbabwe both primary and
secondary. The newly reformed curriculum seeks to enable all learners to partake in
gaining practical skills which could assist them in the future either in the field of playing
a sport or coaching. Students are encouraged to become a part with the newly enrolled
offers help in identifying personal talents. Trained and talented athletes can effectively
turn sport into a profession to pursue professionally. Northlea high school has made a
name out of itself by giving out a student who played nationally in sporting industry
such as Shalom Ncube. Northlea high school based in Reigate district Bulawayo has a
magnified sporting program ranging from handball, basketball, netball, cricket, football
and other various sports available at the facility. However, students can have access to
any sport of their choice, but not all students partake in the mentioned sports above due
to various problems. Moreover the researcher will trace Northlea five years back from
[2014 to 2018] on the causes of poor netball performances at school level and also the
Chapter one will show the background of the problem, the importance of the case study
1.3 Hypothesis
The researcher’s view of the causes of the problem could be factors due to unexperienced
coaches, as an observation that took place the researcher that it is rare to see the teams in a
hard training session. Most students fail to participate in sports due to poor training
environment, inadequate equipment and less skilled coaches.
1.4 Research objectives
5: To find out why Northlea high school grounds have not been maintained
6: To investigate why there are no skilled teachers in netball compared to other sports.
b. Lack of cooperation from targeted population who will feel they are classified as
failures
c. Produced questions may not be returned due to a negative attitude toward the sport
d. Interviews from a few individuals may be lies due to wrong method of approach
e. The research material may have some data being lost
f. The individuals may have limited time and it may force the researcher to beg for more
time
1.8 POPULATION
The population of the study shall consist of 1500 learners at Northlea high school,
approximately 85 permanent teachers and 15 ancillary teachers and it would be
approximately 1600 people.
