The title of the book is A Thousand Pieces of You written by Claudia Gray. This book
is the first out of the three books in the series, The Firebird Series. The book contains 381
pages including the story itself, acknowledgements, and sneak peaks of the second book.
The book is a science-fictional, romance, and adventure fiction.

There are four main characters in the story, Marguerite Caine, Theo Beck, Paul
Markov, and Wyatt Conley. Aside from being the main protagonist, Marguerite Caine is the
daughter of the creators of the Firebird. In the family, she is the only one who likes arts,
while her whole family like inventions, science, and math. Without her the story would not be
the same. She plays a big part because out of all the characters, she is the only one who
can travel dimension without having reactions, the perfect traveler. Next character is Theo
Beck, he is physics student and a friend of the Caine family. He helped Marguerite’s parents
in making the Firebird by fixing old prototypes and collecting materials. He is also the best
friend of Marguerite, who insists on letting her go with him to chase Paul. He is always ready
to cheer Marguerite up when she is at her very bad moments. Next is Paul Markov, he is the
enigmatic star assistant of Marguerite’s parents and on making the Firebird. He is the love
interest of the protagonist, Marguerite Caine. He was accused for killing Marguerite’s father,
Henry Caine. He has a very limited social life however, he is very protective of the people
close to him. Lastly the antagonist, Wyatt Conley, the CEO of the Triad Corporation. The
corporation is the one who funds the making of the Firebird. He is known to be very greedy
and clever. He wanted to steal the Firebird in order to control other dimensions by this, he
needed to use Marguerite to travel around other dimensions. The story took place in various
dimensions since, the characters are using the Firebird which allows people to travel around
different universes or dimensions. Marguerite Caine is very eager to chase the one
responsible for her Father’s death, Paul, in the other dimensions, together with Theo. As she
leaps different dimensions, she meets different versions of the people that she knows. Thus,
letting her doubt herself and the people around her. Marguerite then discovers a lot of
secrets and truths about what really happened. The story is a First-person point of view,
which allows the characters fully expressed their feelings and experiences in the story. The
story’s theme is to trust. Specifically, the people that stand beside you aren’t always truly
who you would expect them to be and you will never know who to trust and who not to.
Through Marguerite we can see how the theme was delivered. If only if, she didn’t trust too
much on the people around her, she would not be placed on harmful activities.
The book was really nice and exciting. I could say that it is really a page- turner. The
adventures, the suspense, the expected love triangle turned out to be unexpected, and of
course the Firebird. To be honest, because of this book I started believing that there are
really different dimensions and what if I could be given a chance to travel around it. The
author did great job on creating and maintaining the suspense throughout the story. I really
like the idea on putting together science and love because of this, it is getting harder to
predict what will happen next as a reader. I like how Ms. Gray put up the illusion of love
triangle. I could say that the strongest point of the story is how it is not predictable. It is not
like other stories because the story revolves the concept of new dimension means new side
of each characters. This means that the character of the current dimension which is sweet
and girly, will turn out to be the exact opposite on the other dimensions. The weakest point of
the story is the point of view because the other characters doesn’t have enough point of
view. The other main characters like the antagonist only had 8 chapters out of 27 chapters.
Which make them have less point of views Which make more the story mysterious. I would
likely recommend this book because it has a great story and very unique ideas. I will
recommend the book to the teens who can more relate to the story. Specially, that it is a new
kind of romance because it has been mixed with science.
