Course Description:
Entrepreneurship recognizes the importance of a business opportunity. From the initial idea to the operating and
maintaining a business, this course explores every aspect of business ownership. Entrepreneurship is necessary
not only for students who will become entrepreneurs, but also for individuals working in the increasingly
competitive corporate world. In United States small businesses makes up close to 90% of all businesses.
Entrepreneurship integrates the functional areas of business—accounting, finance, marketing, and management
– and the legal and economic environments in which any new venture operates.

Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, students will
1. Understand the importance of entrepreneurship in our society.
2. Describe characteristics, advantages and disadvantages for being an entrepreneur.
3. Resolve problems of business.
4. Define and identify potential buyers of specific products at various price levels.
5. Analyze customer groups and develop a plan to identify, reach, and keep customers in a specific
target market.
6. Compare economic concepts when making decisions for an entrepreneurial venture.
7. Identify the cash needs and/or resources necessary to produce a specific product.
8. Describe and identify sources and types of funding for a specific product/service business.
9. Distinguish, classify and analyze appropriate records to make business decisions.
10. Develop a management plan for an entrepreneurial venture.
11. List cultural differences.
12. Apply information learned about imports and exports to business opportunities.
13. Explain how business ethics affects ownerships and government regulations with any entrepreneurial
venture.

Grading Procedures:
Class work will be weighted according to the following:
Attendance/Participation 5%
Assignments 45%
Projects 30%
Tests 10%
Final Exam 10%
Total 100%

Scale:
A 93-100%
B 85-92%
C 78-84%
D 70-77%

Class Assignments:
 Students come prepared to class.
 A folder or binder is required to keep all of your assignments throughout the semester.
 All class work should clearly indicate: Student’s Name, Assignment Identification, Class Period, and
Date in the upper right-hand corner and/or header or footer.
 Assignments, activities, and projects are due on the date given by the instructor, no later and don’t ask.
 It is the student’s responsibility to obtain make-up work from the teacher and turn it in within the
guidelines set forth by the District’s excused absences policy.
 Students absent from class are required to complete missed work on their own time.
 Students who have an excused absence have one day plus a day to make up the work for every day
missed.
 Students with unexcused absences will receive a zero for any assignments, activities, tests, or quizzes
given that day.
 The lab is open throughout the day and for you to use.

Course Policies:
Plagiarism and cheating are serious offenses and may be punished by failure on exam, paper or project; or
failure in the course. For more information refer to the "Academic Dishonesty" policy in the SHS Student
Handbook. For this class, it is permissible to assist classmates in general discussions of computing techniques.
General advice and interaction is encouraged. Each person, however, must develop his or her own solutions to
the assigned projects, assignments, and tasks. In other words, students may not "work together" on graded
assignments unless otherwise stated by the instructor.

Internet Use-RCAS District policy regarding Internet usage will be followed.

Games-No game playing is allowed during class time unless otherwise granted by the instructor. In addition,
the hosting of games is prohibited.

Harassment-There is zero tolerance for any harassment toward each other including all staff and students.
Stevens High School takes pride in respecting individuals for whom they are and for taking responsibility for
your own actions. This philosophy is echoed in this class. Good manners are always welcome.

Food/Beverage-This is a food free classroom. Beverages must come with a cap/lid and placed on the floor.

Power Switches/Damage-Any unauthorized handling of equipment, power switches or supplies will not
be tolerated. The student is responsible for replacing or paying for any damaged equipment, computers,
peripherals or materials.

Cleanliness- Clean spaces unclutter the mind! Please keep your work area clean. Before you leave for the
day, please close your book, log-off your computer (except for Fridays and holidays when we shut down),
remain seated until the final bell rings, and push in your chair upon leaving.

Books- The books are brand new and must last us for 5 years. Please treat the books as if they were your most
prized possession. In other words, please be kind to the books. Thank you.

Preparation-Books are provided in the classroom and remain in the classroom. Books may be checked out
for completing an assignment or for reviewing for a test.

Chairs-Rolling around on the chairs or swapping chairs upon entering the room is unacceptable and will not
be tolerated. Feet are prohibited from being on the cushions of the chairs.

Seating-Be in your assigned seat and ready to work when the bell rings. Sit quietly during attendance and
instructions. Login to your computer after I am finished with briefing you on the day’s assignment.

Listening-Listen and be quiet when someone is speaking.

Directions-Follow directions the first time they are given. Ask questions if the directions are unclear. You
are expected to be on-task daily for all activities.

Questions-If you have a question, raise your hand and wait patiently. If your neighbor offers so show you,
please talk in your quiet voices.

Tardy Policy-If you are tardy to class without a tardy slip, you will have the opportunity to sing to the rest
of the class.

Cell Phones-Please refer to your handbook for the policy. Cell phones will be hung-up during class time.

Computer Use-This course follows the RCAS District’s policy on computer use.
