My Week in Toddler Class

When Cali got to class, she immediately went up the stairs Cali was absent.
and slid down the slide. She played on the slide throughout
class as well. During large group time, Cali watched and
listened to the Pete the Cat book. She chose to wear the red
“shoes.” When Pete, the main character of the book,
stepped in strawberries and his shoes turned red, Cali smiled
and pointed to her “red shoes!” Cali also participated in the
Hokey Pokey as she held the signs for what to do, showed
them to her teachers and peers, and imitated the actions.
While playing in the block area, she asked her teacher to
read her the book about busses. At the sensory table, she
correctly labelled one of the sea animals without being
prompted. She said, “octopus”, picked it up, and showed it
to her teacher. As Cali left the table, one of her teachers
said, “Cali, the smock fell, can you help me get it?” Cali
picked up the smock and placed it back on the chair. At the
dramatic play center, Cali typed on the keyboard, moved her
head back and forth, and varied her tone of voice as if she
were talking to someone. She crawled through the tunnel at
the gross motor area and rocked on the wooden rocking
horse. When it was time to go outside, Cali helped clean-up.
Then she put her coat on and held the rope as we walked
outside. While on the playground, Cali climbed up the stump
stairs, went down the slide numerous times, and looked out
the “lookout” on the hill.
Goal:
Cali will use her words to ask for a toy she wants, or for a turn, one to two times each day.

and grabbed it from her peer. When a teacher labelled the
other child’s emotions, Cali looked at her peer and made a
“concerned” look. Her teacher asked, “how can we help him
feel better?” Cali handed the toy back. After a moment, her
teacher provided her with words for asking for the toy. Then,
Cali said, “can I have the toy, please?” The other child smiled
and handed her the toy. Cali smiled and played with the toy.
