For how many decades, technology continues to revolutionize the way we
see the future. It’s the matter of developing the quality of our lives through innovations and new inventions. As technologies progress, cellphones are becoming ordinary in this country and around the globe. According to dictionary.com, cellphone is a portable telephone that uses wireless technology to send and receive a phone signal. The cellphone's main purpose is to keep people connected, regardless of the distance that separates them. It is widely known as the greatest invention of human that makes everything convenient. Filipinos are one of the greatest users of cellphones globally that consider it as part of their daily routines. Cellphone is a medium of communication of almost all people in the world. According to the forecast, the number of smartphone users in Philippines is estimated to reach 30.4 million. This would mean that around 32 percent of the population in the Philippines would use smartphone. This number is expected to rise to 40 percent by the year 2021.This forecast simply indicates that Cellphones became as part of our system that almost everyone relies on its capabilities to send and receive messages. Using cellphone especially in school is inevitable because it serves as a tool for the students to learn more about the lesson. Students use it as a mean of communication and sometimes for an emergency call if they need it. Today, the sources for knowledge have diversified and one of the ready sources is the internet. Having the cellphone on their person all the time can help students check out things in a more fun way than going to the books all the time. however, there are also bad effects of cellphone to the students. It is true that mobile phones can help students in studies but only if they use them wisely. Most of the students become addicted to mobile phones and are found playing games, chatting with their friends and watching movies and other stuff. If students are busy keeping their eyes on their mobile phones at all times they won’t get time for studying which would lead to poor grades. On the other hand, excessive usage of cellphones is alarming. It has been frequently argued that cell phones could be a cancer risk due to the fact that they emit radio waves. The results of multiple studies have led to the conclusion that cell phone use is “possibly carcinogenic to humans,” but overall, evidence is still limited and inconclusive.
In addition to the potential physical risks, it has been argued that
cellphones pose emotional, social and psychological risks as well. High teenage suicide and suicide risk in general has been linked to cellphone prevalence: a study found that kids who spent three hours or more a day on smartphones or other electronic devices were 34 percent more likely to suffer at least one suicide- related outcome.
Everything is good in moderation and discipline, same as using cellphone
in an appropriate way. Innovation is on its way to change the stream of everybody’s life through technology. it constantly evolving our lives into a convenient one. We must embrace its beauty and learn to use it wisely.
