‘‘Cellphone: an inevitable technology’’

by: Bardz

For how many decades, technology continues to revolutionize the way we

see the future. It’s the matter of developing the quality of our lives through
innovations and new inventions. As technologies progress, cellphones are
becoming ordinary in this country and around the globe.
According to dictionary.com, cellphone is a portable telephone that uses
wireless technology to send and receive a phone signal. The cellphone's main
purpose is to keep people connected, regardless of the distance that separates
them. It is widely known as the greatest invention of human that makes
everything convenient.
Filipinos are one of the greatest users of cellphones globally that consider
it as part of their daily routines. Cellphone is a medium of communication of
almost all people in the world. According to the forecast, the number of
smartphone users in Philippines is estimated to reach 30.4 million. This would
mean that around 32 percent of the population in the Philippines would use
smartphone. This number is expected to rise to 40 percent by the year 2021.This
forecast simply indicates that Cellphones became as part of our system that almost
everyone relies on its capabilities to send and receive messages.
Using cellphone especially in school is inevitable because it serves as a
tool for the students to learn more about the lesson. Students use it as a mean of
communication and sometimes for an emergency call if they need it. Today, the
sources for knowledge have diversified and one of the ready sources is the
internet. Having the cellphone on their person all the time can help students check
out things in a more fun way than going to the books all the time. however, there
are also bad effects of cellphone to the students. It is true that mobile phones can
help students in studies but only if they use them wisely. Most of the students
become addicted to mobile phones and are found playing games, chatting with
their friends and watching movies and other stuff. If students are busy keeping
their eyes on their mobile phones at all times they won’t get time for studying
which would lead to poor grades.
On the other hand, excessive usage of cellphones is alarming. It has been
frequently argued that cell phones could be a cancer risk due to the fact that they
emit radio waves. The results of multiple studies have led to the conclusion
that cell phone use is “possibly carcinogenic to humans,” but overall, evidence is
still limited and inconclusive.

In addition to the potential physical risks, it has been argued that

cellphones pose emotional, social and psychological risks as well. High teenage
suicide and suicide risk in general has been linked to cellphone prevalence: a
study found that kids who spent three hours or more a day on smartphones or
other electronic devices were 34 percent more likely to suffer at least one suicide-
related outcome.

Everything is good in moderation and discipline, same as using cellphone

in an appropriate way. Innovation is on its way to change the stream of
everybody’s life through technology. it constantly evolving our lives into a
convenient one. We must embrace its beauty and learn to use it wisely.
