Notes
 How to create the Braids in the Body of the hat using the ch-6 loops.
 Loosen the working loop on your hook (you will be coming back
to this loop) & remove your hook.

 Turn your cap so the Top of the hat is facing Right. Find the
skipped st at the top of the hat that corresponds with the column of
ch-6 loops that you are braiding.

 Insert your hook in the skipped st & pull the 1st ch-6 loop through
the st. The ch-6 loop is now on your hook. Pull the next ch-6 loop
through the loop on your hook. The next ch-6 loop is now on your
hook. Continue pulling each ch-6 loop through the loop on your
hook until the last ch-6 loop is on your hook.

 Remove your hook from the last ch-6 loop & HOLD ON TO IT so
you do not lose it. Place your hook back in the loosened loop from
your last hdc worked.

 Sc in the ch-6 loop you are holding on to, to secure the braid.

 How to create the Braids in the Brim of the hat using the Qtr sts.
 Choose the spot you would like your buttons to be on the Brim.
Take the Qtr st where you would like to start & twist it once to
form a loop.

 Insert hook in loop made with the twist of the Qtr.

 Pull next Qtr through loop on hook. The next Qtr is now on your
hook. Continue pulling the next Qtr through the loop on your hook
until you have a couple inches of the braid made.

 Sew button to the beginning of the braid so you can place the last
loop of the braid around the button to secure braid.

 Continue pulling each Qtr through the loop on your hook until the
last Qtr is on your hook. Place the loop of the last Qtr around your
button or sew it to the beginning of the braid to secure the braid.

Body
Every ch-6 loop created will be used for the vertical braids of the hat - so you will
always skip over the ch-6 loops from the previous rnd - never work sts in the ch-6 loops
& only work your sts in the hdc.

The finished Body of the cap will look huge (it will almost lay flat like a doily). Don’t
fear - once you braid the ch-6 loops it will tighten up the width of the cap to normal.

All Sizes:

You can measure the length of the cap: follow the hdcs from the center point of the crown
to the last rnd worked to determine the length of the cap. The Brim will add 2” to the
length, so the Body will end 2” short from where the desired length will be. You can
repeat the last rnd more or less to change the length, if desired.
