METHOD STATEMENT FOR TESTING & COMMISSIONING OF

CENTRAL BATTERY SYSTEM

1. PRE-COMMISSIONING

1.1 The following to be completed before starting the Testing & Commissioning
 Insulation resistance measurement of cables.
 All Emergency & Exit luminaires to be installed.
 Central battery control panel & Battery cabinet to be installed.
 All outgoing circuit cables to be marked & terminated at panel.
 Batteries interconnection & termination.
 Main’s power supply to the panels.

1.2 INSULATION RESISTANCE MEASUREMENT

 Insulation Resistance of the mains power supply cable from SMDB/DB to Central Battery Panel
and all out going circuit cables from Central Battery Panel to luminaires must measure with
Insulation resistance tester before terminating at the panel and luminaires. The value must be
recorded by the installer.

1.3 LUMINAIRE SETTING

 Set luminaire address.
 Set luminaire mode of operation (Maintain or Non-maintain).

1.4 BATTERY CONNECTION

 Connect the batteries in series to get 216V.
 Measure the battery voltage and record the reading.

2. TESTING & COMMISSIONING

2.1 VISUAL CHECK

 Check CBS panel installation for interior / exterior damage if any.
 Check battery installation for interior / exterior damage if any.
 Check mains power supply provided from dedicated breaker.
 Check mains power supply cable termination inside the panel.
 Check termination of outgoing circuits.
 Check battery interconnection.
 Check battery cable / wire termination inside the panel.
 Check luminaire installation.

2.2 CONTROL PANEL SETTINGS

 Battery size setting.
 Maintained / Non maintained mode setting.
 Addressable or Group monitoring setting.

2.3 SWITCHING ON THE UNIT
 Remove the battery fuses.
 Switch Off mains power supply breaker.
 Connect the battery cable with proper polarity.
 Check outgoing circuit cables for short circuit & Earth leakage faults by using digital multimeter.
 Connect mains supply cable.
 Switch ON main supply breaker.
 Check mains power supply voltage by using digital multimeter and record the value.
 Refit/ Replace the battery fuses.( Fuse can be installed with Power ON)
 Check battery voltage by using digital multimeter and record the value.

2.4 PROGRAMMING AND TESTING

 Set automatic Luminaire test time.
 Set automatic battery test duration time.
 Put the panel into auto learn mode to find the luminaires on each circuit and save it on the panel
memory.
 Check for failure of luminaire, if any.
 Check Maintained & Non Maintained Luminaire function
 Check sub circuit monitoring module (Local Controller / Intelligent controller) function
 Check normal mode operation of panel.
 Check battery mode operation of panel.
 Check battery duration test with all luminaire ON condition.
 Check battery charger operation.
 Program the central monitoring system (ACM) and check the function.

2.5. ATTACHMENTS:
