Problem Solving
Work involves tasks that are straightforward and routine in nature involving the operation of the
vehicle. Typical problem or challenge is to follow scheduled vehicle maintenance and repair
guidelines and preventative maintenance program to ensure the safe operation of the vehicle and
to extend the life of the vehicle mechanically. Reference material to assist in addressing
problems, challenges and issues includes policies and procedures, vehicle manufacturer
specifications, and advice and guidance from the supervisor
Decision Making
Makes routine job related decisions, follows instructions, established procedures within set work
routine or may change the order in which tasks are done. Work is performed with considerable
independence and initiative in the performance of daily activities under the general direction of a
supervisor.
Job Impact
Work results can have a positive impact within the immediate work area, department,
organization and the general public, health and safety and corporate image when vehicle is
operated and maintained as required. Mistakes or errors can result in vehicle down time; health
and safety issues or injury and possibly death to passengers or general public; over expenditure
on vehicle fleet associated with vehicle repair. Work is reviewed by supervisor through
discussions, reports and observation of overall results achieved and errors are typically identified
and resolved within 24 hours of problem identification.
Working Conditions
Required to drive on the road most of the time. Exposed to injury in case of a road traffic
accident
