Purpose of the Job
Drives motor vehicle to ensure reliable and safe transportation of staff, materials and equipment
to and from intended destinations to ensure smooth operations of the organisation.

Key Outputs of the Job

Output 1: Transported items

Definition: Delivers and pickup items to and from authorised locations to ensure smooth
operations of the country program.

Output 2: Transported staff

Definition: Delivers and pick up staff to ensure smooth transportation of staff or clients to and
from authorised location.

Output 3: Cleaned Vehicle

Definition: Cleans the inside and outside of the vehicle to ensure the vehicle is maintained to
the required cleanliness standards before use

Output 4: Maintained Vehicle

Definition: Inspect fineness of vehicles to ensure that the vehicle is in proper and safe
working condition to avoid unnecessary road accidents and breakdowns.

Output 5: Serviced Vehicle

Definition: Check and service the vehicle to ensure that periodic scheduled maintenance is
undertaken in order to guarantee its life span as recommended by manufactures
and maximize its usage and minimize safety hazards.

Output 6: Secured Vehicle

Definition: Park the vehicle in safe and authorized areas to ensure the vehicle is secured from
unnecessary damage or theft.
Output 7: Maintained Vehicle Log Book
Definition: Records every trip details in the vehicle log sheet in order to account for
authorized movements, mileage and fuel consumption to minimize fuel costs and
avoid unnecessary trips.

Output 8: Accident Reports

Definition: Prepares accident and incident reports on occurrence of the traffic accidents to
ensure remedial actions are taken according to rules and regulations.

JOB FACTORS

Education
Grade twelve (12) with 5 ‘O’ levels with Grade twelve with PSV Drivers License.(possess a
valid driver's license)

Experience
At least not less than one (1) year experience of Clean driver’s License

Interpersonal Communication Skills

Job holder provides is required to write details on the vehicle log Book. Communicates with
staff, community members and office personnel where politeness and helpfulness is required.
Treats, staff and the public in a respectful, responsible and fair manner.

Problem Solving
Work involves tasks that are straightforward and routine in nature involving the operation of the
vehicle. Typical problem or challenge is to follow scheduled vehicle maintenance and repair
guidelines and preventative maintenance program to ensure the safe operation of the vehicle and
to extend the life of the vehicle mechanically. Reference material to assist in addressing
problems, challenges and issues includes policies and procedures, vehicle manufacturer
specifications, and advice and guidance from the supervisor

Decision Making
Makes routine job related decisions, follows instructions, established procedures within set work
routine or may change the order in which tasks are done. Work is performed with considerable
independence and initiative in the performance of daily activities under the general direction of a
supervisor.

Responsibility for Work of Others

Supervisory responsibility is not a job requirement.

Job Impact
Work results can have a positive impact within the immediate work area, department,
organization and the general public, health and safety and corporate image when vehicle is
operated and maintained as required. Mistakes or errors can result in vehicle down time; health
and safety issues or injury and possibly death to passengers or general public; over expenditure
on vehicle fleet associated with vehicle repair. Work is reviewed by supervisor through
discussions, reports and observation of overall results achieved and errors are typically identified
and resolved within 24 hours of problem identification.

Working Conditions
Required to drive on the road most of the time. Exposed to injury in case of a road traffic
accident
