A detailed Lesson Plan in Safety and Disaster Preparedness

Junior High School (Fourth Quarter)

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students will be able to:
 Discuss the proper execution and repetition in doing Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation.
 Appreciate the importance of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation in lifesaving.
 Create an accident Situation in Role play and apply the Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation.

Before we will start our lesson, may I request ( One student will lead the prayer )
everyone to please stand and put ourselves in the holy
presence of the lord. “let us pray” Students raise their hand and say present as the teacher

Once again Good Morning, how was your weekend? Ma’am, it was great! we spend our weekend with our
family!
I’m glad to hear that!
Okay, since last week we’ve tackled about first aid
today I am going to discuss about how to save lives.
But let me ask you first, do you want to be a
superhero? Yes, Ma’am!
Alright, I am going to teach you how to be a superhero
in your ways.

Being a superhero doesn’t mean you have to possess


supernatural powers. It is your willing ang readiness to
help someone in need. Students are listening

What is CPR? Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Ma’am

Can you please read what is cardiopulmonary Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, commonly known as
resuscitation? CPR, is an emergency procedure that combines chest
compression often with artificial ventilation in an
effort to manually preserve intact brain function until
further measures are taken to restore spontaneous
blood circulation and breathing.
Alright, It is the immediate help given to a life
threatening situation, can you give a situation where in Drowning incidents ma’am! Cardiac Arrest ma’am!
someone might die? Suffocation or loss of pulse ma’am!
That’s right! Loss of consciousness in an accident ma’am!
In Performing the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation,
you need to remember the six letter DRABC.
What these six letters stand for Are you familiar with Yes ma’am!
DRSABC?
D– DANGER
R- RESPONSE
S– SHOUT
A– AIRWAYS
B– BREATHING
C- COMPRESSION
DANGER- make sure that the area is safety for
yourself and the victim. Remove unnecessary things
like metals, plastic, bags and other things that might
cause another injury to the victim. Students are listening

RESPONSE- tap gently the shoulder of the victim. Ask


the victim using the four letters which is “COWS”.
COWS stand for:
C - Can you hear me? Students are listening
O - Open your eyes
W - What is your name?
S - Squeeze your hand
SHOUT - Call for expert medical support, ask for
assistance or call out for help.
Call for an ambulance Call for help, Call for professional medical team.
What will you do after these when the victim is still
unresponsive?

AIRWAYS - tilt the head of the victim, open the


mouth and check the airways.

LOOK - if the chest is raising normal.
LISTEN - for normal breathing sounds.
FEEL - feel the breath against your face.

only to provides help, it also builds self-esteem and a
sense of responsibility, as well as teaching teamwork
and communication skills.

IV. Activity – ROLE PLAY (Pair Work)


Students will be divided into 2 groups. Group A and B
Conduct a role-play activity with your group,plan
the role play, showing clearly what outcomes you
want to achieve as well as the issues and solutions on
emergencies. Then create a video of the role play. Student planning & performing by group.
