A DAY IN JAIPUR

On 11 July 2019 a trip was arranged from the college for the students of Batch
PGDMABM (2019-21) around a city tour in Jaipur. The trip was started at 9 am morning. Mr.
R.S.Saini was the person representing from the authority.

AMER FORT
Our very first sighting was the Amer fort. The fort was located at the outskirt of the
Jaipur city at around 10 km from the city. The fort drives its name from Ambikeshwar (Lord
Shiva) temple. Amer fort is a residing place for Maharaja Man Singh and his son Maharaja Jai
Singh. Inside the palace the state rooms have be resorted and can be fully explored. Highlights
include the chamber of a thousand mirrors which is also known as Sheesh Mahala. The most
beautiful of all of the inner rooms which supposedly can be full lit just by a single candle. We
remain awestruck by the beauty of the Sheesh Mahal.

CITY PALACE

Our next destination was the city palace where we went at around 1:30pm. City Palace
lies in the heart of the Jaipur city. It was built in the year 1732AD by Maharaja Sawai Man Singh
II . City Palace is known for religious and cultural events. It is now houses the Maharaja Sawai
Man Singh II Museum and continues to be the home of the Jaipur royal family. The palace
complex has several buildings, various courtyards, galleries, restaurants, and offices of the
Museum Trust. The Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum Trust looks after the Museum. The
walls and gates are ornately designed to Mughal style, with various murals, lattice and mirrors
adorning them from sides. We also watched a puppet show which indicates that the Rajasthani
Folklore and culture still lives among the people.

Next around 2:30 pm we had our lunch at Thali house near Sindhi Camp bus stop. The
lunch was good and we have Dal, batti and churma with an authentic Rajasthani thali.

JAIGARH FORT

After the completion of the lunch we went for Jaivana Canon. This is awarded as the
world’s largest canon also. The canon is located 3Km from Amer fort and 13km from Jaipur city.
It was test fired once with 100kg of gun powder and 50kg shot ball. The cart on which it was
residing broke down.

JAL MAHAL

Next we went for to see Jal Mahal. The Jal Mahal palace is an architectural showcase of
the Rajput style of architecture on a grand scale. The building has a picturesque view of the lake
itself but owing to its seclusion from land is equally the focus of a viewpoint, in front of the
backdrop of the surrounding Nahargarh ("tiger-abode") hills. The palace, built in red sandstone,
is a five storied building, of which four floors remain underwater when the lake is full and the
top floor is exposed. The palace had suffered subsidence in the past and also partial seepage
because of water logging, which have been repaired under a restoration project of the
Government of Rajasthan.

We came back in Institute at around 6:30pm. The trip was worthy and we all enjoyed a
lot.
