Synopsis:

Administration is a process involving human beings jointly engaged in working

towards common goals. (George E. Berkley). Supervisors are regularly involved in

evaluation through assessment of programs, processes, and people (Wiles and Bondi,

1991).

Scope of Supervision Survey of the school system, direct improvement of classroom

teaching, the general improvement of teachers in service, organizing programs of

cooperative activity, the development of maintenance of morale, or de corps, the

selection and organization of the materials of instruction, experimental study of the

problems of teaching, determine the desirable physical conditions of learning, and

performance of professional and semi-administrative duties.

The interrelation of administration & supervision represents the whole of the education

system represents a portion of it in terms of improving the total teaching-learning

situation, emphasizes authority, service favorable condition essential to good teaching

and learning; carries out the better operation and improving its decisions, directs and

orders the execution of educational program; assists, advises guides and leads the

operation and improving the program administration supervision.

REACTION

Positive Reaction:

The scope of administration and supervision is very important for us teachers

because good administrators in school affect teachers’ performance. The management

of the leaders gives motivation or discouragement to the teachers and those who are

involve in the school operation. The scope of administration and supervision is so wide

that all aspects of the school are included. The management should always have this

humanistic approach because they are not handling robots and machines, people

working in school also feel tired if they are given too much load that are beyond there

capability and time. The management needs to see the needs of the teachers in school.

Teachers should be taken care of and not just taken for granted. With my experience of

teaching for almost 4 years, I have heard a lot of complains about the administrators

that we have; they are being authoritative in such a way that teachers are not being

heard about the needs and concerns, that is why that fast turn over teachers is very

normal to the school. Teachers say that the work they have is good but in terms if the

management there is something to improve about. I know administrators are humans

also they commit mistakes but they have to always think about what is good for

everyone not just because of what they want and would just only say that no one in

faculty is indispensable, that they can always look for fresh graduated who need a work
also in administering the school there should not have some biases to the personnel.

They should supervise people with utmost fairness.

Moreover, the purpose of the supervision process is to provide a safe, supportive

opportunity for individuals to engage in critical reflection in order to raise issues, explore

problems, and discover new ways of handling both the situation and oneself. A critical

aspect of supervision lies in its potential to educate. Mostly because people cannot be

trusted to do their jobs correctly, fully, and on time if they aren't supervised. Also,

a supervisor will keep things on track, act as a liaison between upper management and

line workers, and be responsible for the work being produced.

Negative Reaction:

The administration and supervision would be very devastating to teachers and

other personnel if the administrators have not fairly supervised the people in school.

Most complain of teachers is that there are biases towards other personnel and some

are being personally judged by the administrator/s. Some of them don’t see talents but

only those who support them of their decisions. Gender discrimination may include and

displays of favoritism also. This thing should not happen in the administration and

supervision of personnel because in such thing, many of the personnel cannot stay

longer in an institution and transfer to better one. There should be fairness towards

everyone in school no matter how low you in the rank of work or how high you are in the

institution. Everyone should have the right to be heard and say his/ her opinion in terms

of the decision of the administrators. Administrators also should be very open-minded

and really reach out for their personnel because if not there will be a lot of complains

from them.

Supervision is very important because this can enhance teaching- learning

practices that will contribute to improved student development. Supervision is not just

that the subject area coordinators go to the teachers classes to observe but also it is the

time that subject heads need to connect to their teachers about the different aspect of

their teaching because in such thing, they will be able to know what is the teacher’s
feeling and know the difficulties that the teachers are encountering. In this way teacher

can freely open up their concerns. The supervising person also has to have this open-

mindedness attitude because teachers he/ she is handling many teachers who have

different personalities that he/she need to cater. Harmful supervision may often also,

sadly, include sexual, physical, and emotional abuse and racial or gender, poorly

managed feedback process along with supervisory incompetence and neglect.

Sometimes administrators don’t listen to advises and the worst scenario is that they

don’t accept their hitches in supervising their teachers and other personnel.

Conclusion:

On construction sites large and small, supervision has a key role to play in

preventing accidents. Typical supervisory functions include planning and allocating

work, making decisions, monitoring performance and compliance, providing leadership

and building teamwork, and ensuring workforce involvement.

The purpose of the supervision process is to provide a safe, supportive

opportunity for individuals to engage in critical reflection in order to raise issues, explore

problems, and discover new ways of handling both the situation and oneself. A critical

aspect of supervision lies in its potential to educate.

Productivity is essential in ensuring that employees are motivated and committed to their

jobs. Goal development is important in supervision because effective goal-setting activities in

employee supervision are directly associated with higher employee satisfaction and

performance.
