Final Project and Presentation

Your final project will be of 20 marks. Anyone who will not be able to present will not be
entertained after that. If any of your partners skip this project it will not affect other
members they will get marks.
Choose one the following topics you are free to choose any topic. If you have
some other idea of your own discuss it with me in your next class. Avoid copying from
others. No marks will be given on copied projects.
1. Study of Body Language: How body language experts reveal different ways to spot
a liar? Research this topic while focusing on body language including eye contact, facial
expressions, gestures, postures, pauses and Para-language etc.
2. Communication Skills of a Leader (verbal + Nonverbal): Describe the
communication skills and convincing powers of a successful leader. How can a person
manage the staff with the help of effective verbal and non verbal communication? Who
are better leader males or females? Why or Why not? Give arguments.
3. Gestures: We often communicate through body language. A simple gesture can
convey as much meaning as a whole sentence (and sometimes more). Many of these
gestures are universal; others are more prevalent among certain groups of people. What
gestures are common in your culture? Write a list of 10-15 different gestures. In what situations
is each of those gestures used? What does each one mean? Make a table with seven columns.
i. The first column is for a short description of the gesture (i.e. “pat one’s stomach” or
“furrow one’s brow”).
ii. The second column is for the primary emotion that the gesture conveys.
iii. The third column is for the featured body part.
iv. The fourth column is for setting or situation. You can use ‘formal’ and ‘casual’.
v. The fifth column is for prevalence. Is the gesture universal or not?
vi. The sixth column is for notes. Some gestures communicate more than just an
emotion, so you can add that here. Other times, entries in this column will be blank.
vii. Give a brief description of some gestures from other cultures.
4. Analysis of Communication Skills necessary during an Interview: Analyze verbal
and non verbal communication skills which a candidate must have while giving an
interview. What kind of words they should use in an interview? What should be their
body language (dressing, hair style, accessories, eye contact, facial expressions,
gestures, postures, pauses, Para-language) from the moment they enter the interview
room? Does non verbal communication create more impact in winning a job than verbal
communication? Why or why not?
