INTRODUCTION

This is a microcontroller based instrument designed with many advanced features

KEYBOARD

The instrument consists of six keys. The function of each key is as follows:

1) STORE : This key is used to store the parameter values.

2) PRG : This key is used to enter into program mode.

3) INC : This key is used to increment the numeric program value.

4) DEC : This key is used to decrement the numeric program

value\SHIFT in Date wise mode

5) ENT : This key is used to enter into data read mode.

6) ESC : This key is used to escape from any other mode.

START

Press the ON/OFF key , the display will show

- MICROCONTROLLER -

-COND-TDS-SAL-

SYSTEM CHECK

SYSTEM CHECK

OK (LO IF SYSTEM IS LOW)

DATE TIME

XX: XX: XX XX: XX (DATE & TIME)

T = X X X. X °C AUTO/MANUL OR LO. SYSTEM

Press ENT/ PRG

All this operation will be automatic without pressing any key.

3
NOTE:

1) Instrument is calibrated before dispatch, so it does not require any calibration.

2) If the instrument is continuously OFF for more than 100 hours, calibrate the instrument with
standard, if needed.
3) In case the instrument is showing some erratic behavior put it off. Switch it on again, if the
erratic behavior persists, and then put it off again. Keep the PRG Key pressed and switch on
the instrument. Release the key when display shows INITILIZE CAL OK. Now switch off the
instrument and make it on again.

PROGRAM MODE:

To enter into program mode, press PRG Key, The display will show

Calibrate Memory
(PROGRAM MODE)
Date/Time Print

NOTE: To enter into any mode in program mode press ENT key

CALIBRATION MODE

To calibrate the instrument take the cursor below Calibrate & Press ENT key. Display Shows

CAL

ºC CND TDS SAL

Now here you can calibrate any parameter as shown.

4
TEMPERATURE CALIBRATION

Take the cursor below ºC & Press ENT key

Cal TEMP

MANL LO HI UNCAL

Do not calibrate the temp. without standard calibrator

 If required go to temp. calibration with calibrator otherwise no need to calibrate

AUTO MODE

Connect temp.calibrator to the 3-pin temp socket & put knob of calibrator at low temp.

Take the cursor below Lo Press ENT key, display will show:

CAL TEMP LO °C

XXX.X (ACTUAL TEMPERATURE)

 If the temperature is not as per your standard value, press INC / DEC key till display shows the
correct value. Press ENT key, the display is adjusted as per your standard value. And display will
shows

Cal TEMP

MANL LO HI UNCAL

Now put the knob mark of calibrator at high temp. & take the cursor below HI & press ENT key,

the display will show:

CAL TEMP HI °C

XXX.X (ACTUAL TEMPERATURE)

Press INC/DEC key till display shows the correct value and press ENT key, the display will show:

5
Cal TEMP

MANL LO HI UNCAL

 Now temp. Calibration in AUTO MODE is over.

MANUAL MODE

In manual mode you can set the temp. that will display when temp. Probe is not
connected. Take the cursor below MANUAL & Press ENT key

Display shows SET MANUAL TEMP.

XXX.X

Press INC/DEC key to set your temp. in manual mode press ENT key, the display

Will shows

Cal TEMP

MANL LO HI UNCAL

UNCAL MODE

With the help of UNCAL you can uncalibrate the Temp. Calibration

Press ESC key to come out from CAL TEMP

NOTE:

1) Do not enter the same value for LO & HI TEMPERATURE. There should be more than 20 degree
cel. Difference between LO & HI temperature
2) If same values entered for low & high temp .then it shows TEMP ERROR-RECAL

6
CONDUCTIVITY CALIBRATION
NOTE:
For conductivity measurement you should know the cell constant of the cell you are using and the temperature co-
efficient of the solution. There are two ways of entering the cell constant. One is directly enter the cell constant of
the cell. Another is by checking the conductivity. The second method is useful when you don’t know the cell
constant. You know the conductivity of the solution what you have to do is simply adjust the conductivity the
correct value. Cell constant will automatically be displayed when you are checking cell constant. Take the cursor
below COND & Press ENTER key. Display shows:

Cal CND
CELLCNST TREFCOF

Now take the cursor below CELLCNST. & Then Press ENT Key display shows

Cal CELLCNST
BYVAL BYMEASURE

Now take the cursor below BY VAL if you know the cell constant value & Press ENT key display shows cell
constant of the solution 1.000 constant of your cell. If you know the cell constant, then you can straight way enter
the cell constant with INC/DEC key. Press ENT & then PRG key. Now take the cursor below TREFCOF & Press
ENT key display shows

SET TREF-COF
REFTEMP TEMPCOF

Take the cursor below REFTEMP & Press ENT key display shows

SET REFTEMP
25.0 ºC 20.0 ºC

Now you can select here one of these given reference temp. by Pressing ENT key. Also as shown above you can
select temp. Coefficient. So selects the TEMPCOF & Press ENT key, Display shows

SET TEMP COEFF

2.00

Here you can adjust the temperature co-efficient of the solution. If you don't know the temperature co-efficient of
solution Press ENT key otherwise adjust with the help of INC/DEC key & Press ENT key. Press PRG key & again
PRG key display shows the Calibration mode.

TDS CALIBRATION

Take the cursor below the TDS and Press ENT Key display shows:

CAL TDS FACTOR

CELLCNST TEMPCOF

Here you can adjust the TDS FACTOR, CELLCONSTANT & TEMP COEFICIENT in the same way as you have
done for conductivity. TDS 0.50 (by default)
If you don’t want to change this factor press PRG key. Display shows the calibration mode

7
SALINITY CALIBRATION

Take the cursor below the SAL in Calibration mode and Press ENT Key display shows:

CAL SAL FACTOR

CELLCNST TEMP COF

Here you can adjust the SAL FACTOR, CELLCONSTANT & TEMP COEFICIENT in the same way as you have
done for conductivity. SAL 0.75 (by default) If you don't want to change this factor press PRG key. Display shows
the Calibration mode.

MAINTENANCE OF CONDUCTIVITY CELL

1. It is always recommended to check the cell constant of conductivity cell before every measurement. It is done
as below:
a. Dip the cell in the solution whose conductivity is known.
b. Keep the instrument in cal mode on conductivity parameter.
Adjust the displayed value with the help of INC / DEC key to the correct value. Press the ENT key.
2. Then press the CAL key. It will be show the correct cell constant of the conductivity cell. Conductivity cell
may be cleaned by using a warm, 50% detergent solution and scrubbing with very fine brush. Care must be taken
that” PLATINISATION” is not damaged by excessive scrubbing. For more deposits a 0.2% solution of
hydrochloric acid may be used.
3) Don't finger the cell electrodes.
4) Select cell of proper cell constant for accurate readings.

ROUTINE MAINTAINENCE

The design of the instrument is such that no routine maintenance is required to be carried out by
the customer.

As with any high impedance instrument, it should not be exposed unnecessarily to dirty
atmosphere, and it should be covered by a plastic dust cover when not in use.

WARNING

VOLTAGES DANGEROUS TO HUMAN LIFE PRESENT IN THIS INSTRUMENT.

DISCONNECT POWER SUPPLY BEFORE REMOVING THE INSTRUMENT COVER
