Hello Students,

You will use a series of task to explore electricity and magnetism. You will complete each
task by answering ALL questions. Each student will post their answers to each question on
Padlet for each task. We will organize the information in sections. Post your answers close to
its question. Please read all post and be prepared to discuss any differences or ask questions.
There are EIGHT different tasks. See below:

1. How do we make electricity? Play this game and take notes in Padlet. How Do We Make
Electricity? Watch this colorful and fun explanation on the different ways we can make
electricity.

2. Watch the video on circuits Types of Circuits . Record answers to the questions using
pencil and paper and after the video, record your answers in Padlet. Use this Circuits link
to explore this colorful site, which will help you understand series and parallel circuits.

3. Watch this Electricity Video

Questions:
a. List 5 facts about electricity
b. What are 5 ways we use electricity?
c. Balloons and Static Electricity
Move the balloon over a sweater and see how static electricity is caused. Click the
keyboard in the bottom right corner to see directions for the activity.

4. Watch the video Conductors and Insulators

Questions:
a. What is a conductor?
b. Can you name 3 things that could be a conductor?
c. What is an insulator?
d. Can you name 3 things that could be an insulator?
5. Watch this Magnetism Video

Questions:
a. Explain what makes the South (S) and North (N) poles attract and repel.
b. How do people use magnetics?
c. Explain how a compass works with magnetic force.
d. What did you learn new about magnetism?
e. How does electricity and magnetism relate?
f. After you answer the question play the game to see what things are magnetic. Stuck
on Junk : You are a crane operator and you have to use a magnet to pick things up.

6. Watch Magnetism Video 2 and Magnetism Video3

And then complete the Magnets and Compasses game. Can you find where the treasure
is hidden by using a compass? Learn how magnets and a compass play a major role in
direction. This Motion and Forces activity will help you learn how a magnet can help
you find places.

7. Just to see what you know about the topic electricity and magnetism complete the Quizlet
activity. Electricity and Magnetism Quizlet. Don’t spend too much time with this game,
but have fun!

8. Use information from Padlet (tasks 1-7), your notes, and experiences to create your flyer
in SMORE. You can use videos, audio, pictures, and much more to create your flyer. List
at least 4 facts each about electricity, circuits, insulators, and conductors, and magnetism.
Discuss how electricity works and how magnetism works. After the flyer is complete
email your URL to the teacher.
