ABSTRACT

The present thesis was carried out with the main objective of analyzing the structural
behavior of the asphalt pavement of the work Rehabilitation and Improvement of the
Ayacucho - Abancay highway, km 0 + 000 - km 50 + 000, by non - destructive tests. A
structural evaluation was carried out with the Benkelman beam double - arm test, which
allowed to measure the elastic deformations of the asphalt binder to be processed using the
Hogg model and determine the structural behavior of the pavement evaluated; A surface
evaluation was also performed using the PCI method established in ASTM D 6433-99 to
determine its current condition. The importance of using these non-destructive methods in
the evaluation of pavements is that the structure of the pavement is not damaged or modified,
not altered while it is under evaluation, does not impede the free transit of the road, are faster
and reliable. After the evaluation we conclude that the current structural behavior of the
Ayacucho-Abancay road, km 0 + 000 - km 50 + 000 stretch is poor due to poor quality control
of the stone materials used in the conformation of the pavement structure, Its current state is
good but requires localized maintenance actions to correct the strongest faults, it begins to
reduce its taxiing condition therefore the pavement evaluated needs a rehabilitation.
