CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

This chapter will display that background of the study, conceptual

framework, statement of the problem, scope and limitation of the study, significance

of the study and definition of terms which will be useful to this study.

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

The reason of why I choose to do the eggzza, because of nowadays the

most people is looking for the new product that they will get benefits from it with

affordable price and interesting food style. I realize the new flavor for Pangasinense

people and for other people that they will see my business. My business emphasize

the new flavor and exotic product to become attractive to the customer. My business

is small business and low investment. My business can remove to everywhere if it

will grow and gain more profits.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

SCOPE AND LIMITATION OF THE STUDY

This study of “eggzza” is restricted to province of Aguilar, Pangasinan

and will base in management, marketing, technical, socioeconomic, and financial

aspect of business. People of Aguilar will be covered as part of respondents. The

product will be disseminated through direct selling and orders are also accepted from

the customer within in province of Aguilar, Pangasinan from those who are willing to

purchase my product.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

I want to open an eggzza business and I know that there are three possible

outcomes; resounding success, minimal success or failure. I know that people in

Aguilar will patronize my eggzza because it has affordable price. That means I think

of all possible consequences of any action I take and through organization of effort,

move forward as quickly and effective must set goals. My targets are students,

workers, and other people in a different place. The importance of this study is not just

to grow my business but to build a good relationship with my customers and to

satisfied them with my eggzza.

This section will provide a brief description on the various significance of the study

given.

The researchers believed that the customers will benefit because the study was

made for them and the researcher had priced the product at a reasonable price.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

For a better comprehension on this study, the following definitions of terms

are provided:

1. Balance Sheet- one of the financial statements that show total assets,

total liabilities and equity of a business.

2. Demand- refers to the quantity of goods does a buyer is willing to buy a

given price.

3. Form of Ownership- refers to a type of business form of organization.

4. Income Statement- type of financial statement that shows the annual

sales of the business with its expenses incurred for the whole year.

5. Management- the overall organizational structure of a certain business.

6. Marketing Strategy- a series of marketing activities that an organization

do to acquire customers.

METHODOLOGY

It describes and discusses how will gather the necessary data and

information that will be used in the entire study and then it describes who will be the

respondents and focus of the research. This also shows the procedure of source of

data and methods of collecting data, these chapter also discuss the type of research,

research design, and the research locale where the study will be conducted.

RESEARCH DESIGN

The descriptive design and applied using survey questionnaires and key

informant interview. The survey was conducted by providing structured

questionnaires to a number of identified respondents from Aguilar, Pangasinan.

RESEARCH LOCALE

I conducted research study in the specific location of Aguilar,

Pangasinan. It is located at the town of Aguilar.

RESPONDENTS

Due to a large number of people that may become the possible

customers, I got at least 100 respondents from the identified research locale.

Respondents were identified immediately after they have shown interest in buying

"eggzza".

TECHNICAL STUDY

Figure 2.

This study discusses about the process of production and activities of

the study. It states also the general business condition, machineries and

equipment used in production and other aspect regarding bringing the raw

material into finished products ready for trade. Plant layout, size and

structures are all presented for the purpose of identifying the business

operation. Also product specifications the product processes using the flow

chart. The list of machinery, tools and equipment are enumerated.

Product and ingredients shall be stored, handled, transported and kept so as

to protect them from spoilage, contamination, disease and unwholesomeness. Boxes

and other permanent containers for the storing, receiving or handling of “eggzza ”

shall be so placed and constructed as to be beyond the reach of contamination from

streets, sidewalks and from animals and shall be kept clean and sanitary by the

bakery.

Before beginning the preparing of any ingredients used in the production

of “eggzza”, every person therein engaged shall wash the hands and arms

thoroughly and then rinse in clean water and this purpose the bakery shall provide

sufficient facilities.

Employees shall be prohibited from smoking while preparing “eggzza ”

product.

WORKFLOW OF THE PROCESS

 Gather the ingredients.

 Preheat oven to 400 F. Place half of the sweet potatoes directly on the rack

and bake until very soft, about 1 hour.

 Remove from oven and let cool for 5-10 minutes. Peel and puree sweet

potato flesh until smooth; reserve 1 cup.

 Increase oven heat to 450 F. Peel remaining sweet potatoes and cut into

1/2-inch dice. Toss 2 cups of the diced sweet potatoes with 1 tablespoon of

the olive oil, the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne, and salt

and pepper to taste.

 Place in an even layer on a baking sheet. Roast, stirring halfway, until

softened but not yet crisp, about 15-20 minutes. Remove from oven.

 Lightly flour a clean, flat work surface. Roll each ball of whole wheat pizza

dough out to about 1/4-inch thickness (about 7 inches in diameter).

 With remaining 1 teaspoon oil, lightly grease a baking sheet. Transfer rolled

out dough to baking sheet.

 Spread pureed sweet potato over the surface of each dough round, about

1/4 cup each, leaving about a 1/2-inch border. Top each with 1/4 cup

shredded Gouda. Add 1/2 cup of the roasted sweet potato cubes, leaving an

open space in the center of the pizza.

 Carefully crack one egg into the center of the sweet potato cubes on each

pizza; bake for 8 minutes.

 Carefully remove the baking sheet from underneath the pizzas, and

continue to cook directly on the oven rack until the crusts are golden brown

on the bottom, the cheese is melted, and the egg whites are fully set, about

2-4 additional minutes.

 Carefully remove pizzas from the oven. Season to taste with salt and

pepper; top each pizza with 1 tablespoon diced chives.

PRODUCTION PROCESS

Ingredients:

 4 medium sweet potatoes (about 2 pounds)


 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon olive oil (divided)
 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
 1/4 teaspoon paprika
 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
 Salt to taste (kosher or sea salt)
 Black pepper to taste (freshly ground)
 2 to 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour (or amount needed for rolling out

dough)
 1 pound whole wheat pizza dough (at room temperature, divided into 4

equal portions, 4 oz each)


 1 cup Gouda cheese (freshly shredded)
 4 large eggs
 1/4 cup diced chives

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This meatless breakfast pizza combines gouda cheese, eggs, and

roasted sweet potatoes. These gorgeous pizzas would be great for a

gourmet vegetarian brunch or breakfast in bed surprise. Perfectly baked

right on top of the pizza dough, eggs add a richness that can't be beat.

Whether on a breakfast pizza or for dinner, pair eggs with ingredients

like greens, cheese, tomato, and more.

substance, and most commonly used for cooking. Kilns and furnaces are special-

purpose ovens used in pottery and metalworking, respectively.

The plant layout is tactically designed to support the smooth process of the

proposed business (eggzza). The display area is a place where all finish product that

are ready to sell are being displayed. There would be a business office area which

will cater to business related transactions the baker will be the place for the customer

to purchase the finished product of eggzza.

Proper waste management will be practice in the operation of the business

especially in the production area. Compliance with the Ecological Waste

Management Act is strictly implemented by the local Government of Aguilar. The

business will practice waste segregation. All recyclable materials will be collected to

be sold as an additional income to support small miscellaneous expenses. The rest

will be collected by the garbage collector every day.

MARKETING STUDY

This chapter will help to know the marketing aspect of the business. The

marketing aspects will cover the following: Mission and Vision of the business,

tabulation of results, target market, demand, product, marketing strategy, pricing

strategy, promotion and packaging.

For the business to prosper, it should be given time and effort. The

proponent of this business must have the desired creativity so as to be able to

provide quality service to its customers. The fulfillment of the needs and wants of its

customers or target market must be the key objectives of the recommended

business.

MISSION

Eggzza creates a friendly and pleasant environment for customers in a

well-designed and productive environment in which people can work happily. In the

future I will also create idea for a healthy, and concern about the environment.

VISION

To become the best pizza in Aguilar, by providing better service, value,

quality, customer satisfaction, team work and keeping an steady business grow for

our investors and employees.

TARGET MARKET

Eggzza wants to distress the purchasing influence of most of the

Filipinos as it is offering an affordable price. At all ages is the target market of

eggzza, professional or not, male or female and people of different walk of life. One

of our target markets is the parents because they can influence the children to

consume and choose eggzza as a tasty snack treat.

MARKET SEGMENTATION

Eggzza considers all types of people in all ages what places they came

from and no matter what their gender and religion either who have high or low

income can be one of our target market that can be one of our potential buyers for

the benefits of our potential customers we extend our time and effort to differentiate

and understand their needs, wants and their preferences in order to meet the

satisfaction of our product.

The results show that over 98 of the respondents said that they eat egg while 2

of the respondents said that they don't eat egg this result implies that there is a big

fraction that my product will be viable to the target consumers.

that they never eat egg. The results imply that eggzza has the chance of being viable

to the market due to the respondents' response to how often they eat egg.

the respondents said that they don't eat pizza. The results implies that my product

has a big chance that to be patronized by the consumers based on the resulting

findings.

sometimes eat pizza while 16 occasionally eat and only 6 of the respondents don't

eat pizza. By this result I can have some adjustments about the production of my

eggzza product.

usually buy Potato PizzaPizza. This results give me an idea on how many eggzza

product will produced.

PRODUCT

Eggzza is a pizza with egg. Egg that is rich in nutrients such as high in

cholesterol, raise HDL (high-density lipoprotein), choline and it is also contain lutein

and zeaxanthin that will give the consumer a healthy way of eating. There are variety

of eggzza that consumers can choose, bacon eggzza, ham eggzza and potato

eggzza.

COMPETITION

Competition in the area is somewhat infrequent and does not provide

nearly the level of product quality and customer service as Eggzza business.

Customers are looking for a high quality and a unique product. They are notable

about their profits but not into sharing health to everyone. Rafaels Pizza is one of the

leading competitor in Aguilar.

Packaging i an important role as a medium in the marketing mix, in promotional

campaigns, as a pricing criterion, in defining the character of new products, as a

setter of trends and as an instrument to create brand identity and shelp impact in all

The pricing of eggzza is based from the survey questionnaires that I

gathered. I floated survey questionnaires with an option of prices. Then the costing

of products immediately adjusted based from its sole so that it would compensate

the pricing from the survey questionnaires.

Each eggzza cost from 90.00 to 100.00 pesos based on the research

result that I conduct, but it will adjust based on the price of minor or major ingredients

of eggzza and for the transportation and etc. that will affect the price of my product.

This chapter discusses the financial aspects of the study, in order for a

business plan to understand it needs money to start. To determine whether the future

industry will remain profitable through the existence of competitors and unfavorable

economic condition, the researcher have to project a three years financial statement.

This chapter includes the source of funds, balance sheet, income statement and

cashflow statement.

The Php 380,245.00 capital fund created by the manager will finance the overall

operation of the project from the pre-operation process until it reaches its braek-I

even point. All expenses included miscellaneous expense incurred during this year

will also be financed by the said capital fund.

The income statement measures a company's financial performance over a

specific accounting period. Financial performance is assessed by giving a summary

of how the business earns its revenue and expenses both operating and non-

operating activities.

Cash Flow Statement

This shows how changes in that balance sheet accounts and income affect cash

and cash equivalents, and break the analysis down to operating, investigating and

financial activities.

Statement of Financial Position (Balance Sheet)

Balance sheet gives in for about the financial statement that summarizes a

company's assets, liabilities, and owner's equity at a special point in time. These

three balance sheet segments gives investors an idea as to what the company own

and owes, as well as the amount invested by the owner's.
