PUBLISHED WORKS OF MAHATMA JYOTIRAO PHULE.

 Mahatma Jyotirao Phule being India's first systematic theorist of caste, and the most radical 19th-century opponent of it, desired
nothing less than a complete smashing up of its oppressive structure. He wrote, issued and published various of his writings and used
print media as a medium to propagate his idealogies to the masses.
 The book named “Selected Writings of Jyotirao Phule”, by G.P. Deshpande highlights some of his most important writings and
published works. At the centre of Phule's thought and analysis are Gulamgiri (Slavery) and Shetkaryacha Asud (Cultivator's Whipcord),
both included in this volume in their entirety. Also included are Phule's deposition to the Hunter Commission on Education; his
response to the Parsi social reformer Malabari's notes on 'Infant Marriage and Enforced Widowhood'; his letter to M. G. Ranade
regarding the Marathi Authors' Conference; his stirring defence of Pandita Ramabai in two numbers of the journal Satsar; and
selections from The Book of the True Faith.
 However, Phule’s most significant published works include 'Shetkaryancha Aasud', ‘Sarvajanik Satyadharma Pustak' and
“Ghulamgiri”. And, the newspaper/periodicals “Deenbandhu” (Deenmitra).

Let us get a brief idea of each?

 Shetkaryaca Asud (The Whipcord of the Cultivators) was written and published by him in 1881. It is a critique of the exploitation
of shudra peasantry by the British and Brahmin bureaucratic alliance.
The book gives a few of the numerous reasons connected with the religion and politics that had put the Shudra farmers in such a
pitiable condition. It argues that a tyrannical religion, the dominance of Brahmin employees in government departments and the
luxury-loving indolence of British administrators meant that the Shudra farmers were tormented and deceived.
 Talking about Ghulamgiri, another of his significant writings. Ghulam Giri is a book which describes the plight of lower caste people
against the treatment of higher caste hindus. In 1873, he wrote the book and dedicated it to the good (black) people of United States
of America for their battle against slavery. Phule believed, likewise, in the emancipation of “shudras and atishudras” in the
subcontinent and wrote a scathing attack on the vedas being idle fantasies of the brahman mind.
 Next and one of the most special books is Saarvajanik Satyadharma Pustak. This is the last book written by Phule in his
lifetime. After his death, his son, Yashwant Phule, published this book in 1891. This book is considered to be the essence of Phule's
religious views.
Phule was paralyzed in the final phase of life. So he finished this book with his left hand [1] . His design is interactive and he has given
answers to questions raised by various individuals on topics such as religion, sin, virtue etc.
 Lastly, about his newspaper. Deenbandhu was a weekly Marathi-language newspaper first published in Pune, British India in January
1877. It was the first newspaper in India to cater explicitly for the labouring people. Deenbandhu was founded by Jyotirao Phule and
K. R Bhalekar and it served as an outlet to phule's satyashodak samaj. It became the second-highest circulating Marathi or rather
Anglo- Marathi newspaper after Kesari in the Bombay Presidency.

Phule wrote and published a number of literary work throughout his social activism.
Phule's akhandas were organically linked to the abhangs of Marathi Varkari saint Tukaram Among his other notable published works
are:
 Tritiya Ratna, 1855
 Brahmananche Kasab,1869
 Powada : Chatrapati Shivajiraje Bhosle Yancha, [English: Life Of Shivaji, In Poetical Metre], June 1869
 Powada: Vidyakhatyatil Brahman Pantoji, June 1869
 Manav Mahammand (Muhammad) (Abhang)
 Gulamgiri, 1873
 Shetkarayacha Aasud (Cultivator's Whipcord), July 1881
 Satsar Ank 1, June 1885
 Satsar Ank 2, October 1885
 Ishara, October 1885
 Gramjoshya sambhandi jahir kabhar, (1886) , etc.
 Hence, Jyotiba has greatly contributed to the field of literature by using it as a medium of propagation of.ideas and awareness to the
masses.
