Library Merge Procedure

Follow the procedure below to merge library files. Save a backup copy of your existing library file
before proceeding with the merging.

1. Open your ETAP project, and log in as Project Editor.

2. This step is not necessary if you have already associated (saved) a library file to your project.
From the Library menu on the menu bar, select Open…. Browse to the location of the library
file, which you are using for your project, in your computer and then click Open.

For example, below I selected the default etap library, which is located in the Lib folder of your
ETAP installation directory.

3. ETAP will now load the library selected. Save the project, and Log Off.

4. Log in as Librarian.

5. From the Library menu on the menu bar, select Copy/Merge.

6. The Coy/Merge editor opens up. Ensure that the project library is displayed in the first drop-
down box.

7. Now, browse to the location of the library file which was sent to you in your computer by
clicking on the File button in the second row. After selecting the library file, click open.

8. Ensure that the arrow between the two drop-down boxes is indicating the correct source to
destination. For example, in the above image, the arrow indicates that the contents of the top
library file (project library) will be copied into the bottom library file. This is not what we want;
the second file should be copied into the first (project) file. Click on the Arrrow button to
change the direction.

Note: If the source contains the same model as the destination. The entry in the destination
will be overwritten by the entry in the source.

9. Click OK to continue with the merge process. A confirmation window giving a summary of the
device libraries being merged (from source to destination library file) will appear.

10. Click OK to confirm and complete with the merge process.

11. Log off, and log back in as Project Editor. The new model should be entered in to the
respective device library. For example,
