IMPORTANT INFORMATION
KTC Group Theme
In 2017, we introduced the first phase of the KTC Group’s renewal-based theme which was CHANGE. In
2018, we introduced the second phase which was POSITION. This year, we would like to introduce the third
phase of the renewal theme: SHOUMEN TOPPA 正面 突破. SHOUMEN is the Japanese word for "front" and
TOPPA means "breaking though". Joined together, this refers to facing situations head-on, in a direct and
straight forward way.

The sub-theme for 2019 is the English phrase "Try Hard" and realizing that awareness can start from pursuing
more work. This includes gaining a better understanding of our work priorities, learning techniques on how
to improve the quality of our work, and gaining more insights on our work. Specific initiatives that the KTC
Group plans to focus on this year includes:
• Solidifying our home renovation and support business
• Utilizing different sales methods such as web-based sales, sales events, and sales by referral
• Making new changes to our administrative divisions.
• Developing our “care for the elderly” business
• Developing our “employment dispatch” business
Of course, iTTTi Japan and Peppy Kids Club continues to be a flagship program in the KTC Group, and 2019
is certain to be another busy and challenging year, but let’s try to keep Shoumen Toppa in mind when we
approach our work inside and outside of the classroom.
2018 Residence Taxes
All foreign residents of Japan are expected to pay Residence Taxes. These taxes pay for various municipal
functions (roads, trash pick-up, sewers, etc.) and are based on the person’s earnings in a calendar year
(Jan-Dec). At the end of 2018, the accounting division informed city halls across Japan where our foreign
staff resided on Dec. 31, 2018 as required law. Teachers should begin receiving their 2018 Residence Tax
assessments in April 2019. The city where you lived on Dec. 31, 2018 will issue this assessment and this city is
who should receive your residence tax payments. Some teachers may be expected to make a Residence
Tax payment in January 2019. Remember that this may be the final payment of your 2017 residence taxes.

2019 Domestic Hiring

We will be actively recruiting teachers in Japan and overseas during the first quarter of 2019. Should your
teachers know of anyone looking for work they are encouraged to have the applicant contact Jason
Wright or make an online application at www.ittti.com
Personal Documents Validity
Some teachers may be expected to make a Residence Tax payment in January 2019. Please remember
With the new year, we encourage all staff to look at their personal documents to confirm when these items

will expire (ie. passport, residence card, visa, Japanese driving license, etc.) and to be proactive in
renewing them as necessary. While it’s legal to reside in Japan without a valid passport (so long as you
have a valid visa and residence card), we strongly encourage all staff to maintain a valid passport in case
of emergency. We would also like to remind you that you should check your passport’s validity before
travelling abroad. Ensure you meet the requirements set by the country you wish to visit. Each country
determines how much passport validity (i.e. how long the passport will be valid) is required and this can
vary from country to country. If the passport holder has less than the required validity, they may be barred
entry or prevented from leaving.
Teachers from the Philippines - OEC
PKC staff from the Philippines should be aware that the rules and procedures regarding the issuance of
OEC/Balik-Manggagawa changed in 2018. This may affect you if you wish to visit the Philippines and then
return to Japan. Please contact POEA or the POLO section of the Philippines Embassy for more information
on the new procedures.

KTC CAMPUS NEWS
Current Focus: Encouraging /Motivating students for WO 2019!!
World Orientation is a 5-day/7-night homestay program in Vancouver with departure dates from
September to November. The homestay abroad can be such a fulfilling opportunity that will help the
student gain a wider view of the world while improving their confidence when approaching new
challenges. With signups for World Orientation opening in April, now is a great time for us to engage our
students in English and foreign culture. As their respected teacher, the students may find information about
you especially engaging. Over the coming months, let`s try to encourage our students by sharing our own
experiences either from our time back home or our trips to other countries.

Campus Voice for ED/IOW Lessons

It was a good opportunity for students to gain confidence because their teacher gave them some words
of encouragement. Also, students who are thinking of studying abroad could practice speaking in English,
it seemed like their motivation to experience a different culture was increased. Thank you so much!
Kumamoto CP

The teacher asked for feedback after the previous lesson, reflected on the requests and adjusted their
lesson. The lesson was well suited to the level of students and their reaction was very good. Thank you for
your care for each class.
Okazaki CP

Thanks to the teacher the students learned a lot of English and information about foreign cultures. The
students engaged actively in English conversation throughout the lesson. Thank you for your support to
each and every level, even though the level of English of each student is different.
Kobe CP

Thank you for your support at KTC!

We need your voice for how the lessons went too!
