Lesson plan
CLASROOM OBJECTS

AGE: 4 years old


TIME: 60 minutes
NO IN CLASS: 9

LESSON AIM: to be able to recognize and produce correctly and independently


different classroom objects

SKILLS: listening and speaking

NEW VOCABULARY: table, chair, pencil, pen, rubber, book, pencil case, What is this?,
This is a …

RECYCLED VOCABULARY: Where are you?, Here I am!, How do you do!,
commands: run, skip, jump, clap, play the guitar, sit down, stand up, touch.

MATERIALS: toy (Lion), flashcards, blue-tak, markers, worksheets, objects from the
classroom: a pen, pencils, a book, a pencil case, a rubber; Spoonie, plastic file for the
materials, flashcards with the rules

ACTIVITIES:
1. Routines – check the rules in the classroom 2 minutes

Material: flashcards with the rules

2. Warmer 5 minutes
Aim: to introduce Ss into the atmosphere and to reinforce the following structures: Where
are you?, Here I am!, How do you do!

Procedure:
- T. makes a demo of the game using a toy (Lion)
- T. shows Ss to hide behind the chairs
- T. chooses one S and asks: Alex, Alex, where are you?
- S. responds: Here I am, here I am! How do you do!

Material: Lion

3. Lead in – Guessing game 5 minutes


Aim: to test Ss’ knowledge regarding classroom objects and to introduce the topic of the
day
To introduce the new structure: What is this? / This is a …

Procedure:
- T. chooses 3-4 flashcards with the most common classroom objects

- T. sticks them facing the board and asks: What is this? Is it a table/chair/pencil?
- Ss have to recognize the object saying Yes or No
Material: flashcards, blue-tak

4. Presentation – Flashcards 10 minutes


Aim: to teach Ss different classroom objects

Procedure:
- T. sticks all flashcards on the board
- T. uses tone voices saying the names of the object
- All Ss. repeat using tone voices
- Spoonie goes to each S that repeats the word named by the T.

Material: flashcards, blue-tak, Spoonie

5. Practice – Run to the board 10 minutes


Aim: To be able to recognize and practice different classroom objects
To revise commands: run and skip

Procedure:
- T. forms 2 teams (trains)
- T. shows how to play the game: T. runs/skips to an object
- T. calls Ss and says: Run/Skip to … table/chair etc.

Material: flashcards, blue-tak

6. Production – Drawing on the board 20 minutes


Aim: To practice: What is this?, This is a ….
To produce independently words representing classroom objects

Procedure:
- T. draws an object on the board and asks Ss.: What is this?
- Ss. answer by using the structure: This is a ….
- Each S. comes to the boards and draws one of the classroom objects studied
- The other Ss. guess the object

Material: board and markers

7. TPR Activity - LION says 8 minutes


Aim: to reinforce commands, body parts and to practice classroom objects

Procedure:
- T. uses a familiar toy (Lion) and has it give commands to Ss: jump, skip, dance,
play the guitar, touch your hand/head/eyes/mouth/legs/ears, touch a
chair/table/pencil/rubber
- if time Ss. can have Lion and give commands

BACK-UP ACTIVITIES:

8. PRODUCTION - I spy with my little eye 5 minutes


Aim: to have Ss. produce correctly and independently words related to classroom objects

Procedure:
- T. demonstrates how to play the game – gesture to look - and says: I spy … a
book/ a chair etc.
- Each S comes in front of the classroom and spies
- Optional: score on the board

Material: objects from the classroom: a pen, pencils, a book, a pencil case, a rubber

9. PRACTICE – Worksheets Circle the object 10 minutes


Aim: To be able to count and recognize the classroom objects
To revise big/small and the colors

Procedure:
- T. gives the worksheets to Ss
- T. gives the instructions: circle 2 pencils etc.

Material: worksheets and colored pencils
