Comfort & Convenience
Largest, quietest cab in the industry at 130.8 cu. ft.
Better visibility at 67.8 sq. ft. of glass area, HID
lighting and ergonomically-placed controls result
in less operator fatigue and increased productivity.
Air ride heated seat, Auto-temperature control,
APM, electronic end of row and factory install
auto guidance all resulting in less operator fatigue
and increased productivity. Cab options to meet
customer requirements.
Performance & Productivity
Engine runs slower for enhanced fuel economy &
longer engine life. Automatic Productivity Management
(APM) matches engine and transmission for increased
performance and efficiency. Frames are matched to HP
class with longer wheel base. The best-in-class hydraulic
flow, up to 94 GPM, center pull drawbar, built in weight
and a longer wheel base for grater productivity.
Cost of Ownership
A host of features help lower the overall cost of
ownership. More built-in weight vs. competitive
models minimizes added front ballast expense. Diesel
Saver Automatic Productivity Management system,
AutoShift and Constant Engine RPM features save
fuel by allowing the operator to run the tractor at
optimal engine speeds for fuel efficiency. Factory-
installed AccuGuide autoguidance is included in tractor
financing for greater cash flow, and reduces overlaps
to minimize input costs.

JOHN DEERE
Models 9230 9330, 9430, 9530, 9630

JD has sloped the hood on their 30 series tractors,
and provided some additional space in the cab,
however its still smaller at 108.7 cu. ft. and 55.7 sq. ft.
of glass area, visibility is still poor. Instruments and
controls are not as convenient resulting in operator
fatigue. A leather trim package is available along with
new instrumentation. The Deere cab and controls don’t
measure up to Steiger.
s 0ERFORMANCE0RODUCTIVITY
Engines operate at a higher rpm, Deere uses a variable
geometry turbo, EGR valve to meet Emissions. One frame
sized is used across the entire HP range, a short wheel
base limiting maneuverability, making it harder to get
the power to the ground. Hydraulic flow of up to 78 GPM,
not available on track machines, rear pull drawbar, large
gungie bearing with higher initial costs, less productivity.

Single frame size requires additional ballast cost.
Common drive line components across models
requires additional derating, so all engine horsepower
is not usable, adding to operating costs. Shorter
wheelbase limits maneuverability at the headlands,
adding to labor time/cost in the field. Hydraulic flow
of up to 78 gpm is not available on track versions,
increasing operating costs with the 9030T models by
limiting the size of larger air seeders.

AGCO CHALLENGER

The Challenger tractor benchmarked the Steiger
tractors in all areas. The cab is smaller then Steiger
at 108 cu. ft. and has 67.5 sq. ft. of glass area for good
visibility, rounded fuel tank, an air ride seat with the
identical performance as our Positive Response seat.
Lighting packages, integrated armrest with tractor
management control allows the operator to monitor
functions as desired.
s 0ERFORMANCE0RODUCTIVITY
Challenger uses the largest engine, and operates it at
2200 RPM however they only offer a 8% power growth,
coupled with an 16F/4R powershift transmission,
coupled into the widest and heaviest frame in the
industry with tri-point articulation, center pull drawbar
maneuverability is a challenge. With up to 59 gpm
gallons of flow hydraulic performance is marginal for
large air seeders.
s #OSTOF/WNERSHIP
Single wide frame size with duals is too wide to operate
in some municipalities for scraper applications,
requiring more frequent truck transport in some
regions for higher operating costs. Unproven axle could
lead to higher long-term operating costs, along with
a dealer organization not experienced with ag wheel
tractors. Lower power growth limits performance in
some applications, increasing operating costs.
