Elements of Illiad

The story of Illiad takes place in the bronze age which was around the
twelfth or thirthneeth century bc. The illiad begins nine years after the
Trojan war that was in Troy.

Achilleus leader of the Myrmidons and the central character in Illiad, he is


the son of the Goddesz Thetis and the warrior Peleus. Agamemnon is the
son of atreus, King of Mykeneai, and was the most powerful greek king.
Aias was the one who duels with Hector in book 7 and forms part of the
embassy to Achilleus in book 9 and leads the effort to recover Protroklo's
body in book 17. Helen is the daugther of Zeuz and Leda, step-daughter of
Tyndareus. Protroklos is the son of Menoitios and Achilleus bestfriend. The
Trojans include; Aineias who is the leader of the Dardanians who is a trojan
clan. Briseis was the woman who was captured by the Greeks in a raid and
given to Achilleus as a slave. Chryseis daughter of Chryses who is a priest
of Apollo. Glaukos is an ally of the Trojans and Serpendo 's second in
command. Hekabe, is the Queen of Troy and wife of Priam and the mother
of Hector. Hector is the leading warrios lf the Trojans. Paris is the son of
Priam. Priam is the aged king of Troy and a father to fifty sons.

It all started as Agamemnon demands for Achilleus war prize which was
the maidem Breises, though it wounded Achilleus pride which resulted to
him not fighting the war that causes the Achaeans to suffer the war against
the Trojans, as Achilleus was the greatest warrior.

As the Acheans were suffering Protroklos, Achilleus companion,


volunteered to take his place with a full well made armour to defeat Hector.
But everything didn't turn at well as Protroklos was killed by Hector himself.
With this event happening and Achilleus finding out the death of is
companion, he got really mad and had no choice to return combat that
turns the tide against the Trojans once and for all, and ensure the fated fall
of Troy.

The Trojans has chosen to retreat as they were now the one suffering due
to Achilleus joining back in the war for the death of his companion
Protrokolos, with that said Achilleus took revenge on Hector which leaded
to him fighting Hector and in the end defeated him. The Achean's has
decided to brimg Hectors corpse back with them and hide it.

Over the next couple of days, Achilles and the Achaeans hold a funeral for
Patroclus and compete in games in his honor. But Hector's family and the
Trojans have no such comfort. Finally, Zeus decrees that Achilles must
give Hector's body back. The god Hermes guides Priam, Hector's father,
into the Achaean camp to appeal to Achilles. Achilles is moved by Priam's
words and allows the Trojans time to bury Hector
