NARRATIVE REPORT ON SCHOOL-BASED 2ND QUARTER NATIONWIDE


SIMULTANEOUS EARTHQUAKE DRILL (JUNE 20,2019)

The earth’s surface is not exempted from saying,“the only permanent in this world is change”.
Earthquake is the trembling movement of the ground caused by the volcanic shocks of rock masses.
It produces seismic waves which can be detected by an instrument.

Earthquake caused tsunamis or sea waves, collapse of buildings and other properties and
also loss of life, as human being we have to follow precautionary measures before, during and after
earthquake.

Since earthquake occurs frequently in the Philippines, the Department of Education Division
of Cebu Province initiated the program of earthquake drill. In view of this, Casay National High
School held an earthquake drill on last Junre 20, 2019 at 2:00 in the afternoon, it was participated
by 893pupils from grade 7 to grade 12, 33 teachers and 1 School Head. The DRRM school
coordinator instructed all the students of what to do in case of a disaster like earthquake. Everybody
in their respected classes ducked and covered themselves under their armchairs and tables. After
that, the teachers led their advisory classes heading to the designated evacuation area. They were
group according to their grade level. Then, all the teachers did a headcount to make sure all pupils
are accounted for.The drill was successfully implemented and nobody injured because the activity
run smoothly according to plan.
