Characters:
Verity Lortahugh: Fifty years old, face like a smacked bottom, very stern but friendly
enough in her approach with others. The reason she is so stern faced and serious is due to
being neglected by her mother and father as a child. She has always watched out for her own
children’s safety resulting in the way she comes across, unintentionally.
Jason Lortahugh: Fifty-three years old, cheerful, cheeky individual. Married to Verity
Lortahugh. Appears as if nothing troubles him but he’s hiding a terrible truth deep down
inside. We eventually discover that Jason has been secretly having an affair for the past two
and a half years to Susannah Heath.
Susannah Heath: Has been having an affair with Jason Lortahugh for the past two and a half
years. She doesn’t feature heavily throughout as ‘Susannah Heath’ but as ‘Liberty Cannon’ in
disguise.
Liberty Canon: ‘Susannah Heath’ in disguise to hide her true identity. Only Jason will know
who she truly is but they keep their distance to avoid raising suspicion apart from their trip to
the beach (which won’t appear immediately obvious that something is going on due to the
one-off nature of the occurrence).
Samuel Lortahugh: twenty-six year old son of Jason and Verity Lortahugh.
Alice Lortahugh: twenty-eight year old daughter of Jason and Verity Lortahugh.
