•Terminations Theory
•Terminations are to be installed to guarantee a safe
and continuous connection between the Cable and the
equipment

•The main objective for the termination is to keep the

phase voltage difference between the conductor and
the earth to be constant continuously and under any
conditions

•and the main concepts to be taken into consideration

during Designing and installation of a termination :
• Stress Control
•Creepage Distance

•Stress Control
A main objective for the termination is to
relief the stresses at the point of
removing outer semiconductor in order
to protect the insulation at this point from
breakdown

Stresses are two types:

•Longitudinal Field
•Radial Field

•Creepage Distance

•It is important to make the distance between the

conductor and the earth long enough to prevent
any leakage between the conductor and the
earth

•The length of the creepage distance may cause

problem in installing the termination so it was
the idea of curved track to increase the field
track without need to long distance to instal the
termination

•Joint Theory

•A main objective for the joints is to rebuild all

the layers of the cables at the point of jointing

•Stresses at the end of insulation screen must
