Bharat Ratna
Bharat Ratna award(India’s highest Civilian Award) was introduced in 1954.
Recipients receive a Certificate signed by President and A Peepal leaf shaped
Medallion. It is awarded to 45 people till now.

1- First Bharat Ratna was awarded to Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, Sir C.V. Raman, and
Chakravarti Rajagopalachari in 1954.

2- Recently in 2019, Bharat Ratna was awarded to Nanaji Deshmuh, Bhupen Hazarika
and Pranab Mukherjee

3- Last to last Bharat Ratna was awarded to Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Madan Mohan
Malviya in 2015.

4- Proff. CNR RAO and Sachin Tendulkar received in 2014.

5- Mother Teresa was the first naturalized Indian citizen of Bharat Ratna Award Winner in
1980. She was born in Republic of Macedonia.

6- Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan (1987) And Nelson Mandela (1990) are two Non-Indians of
Bharat Ratna Award Winners.

7-Sachin Tendulkar is the first sports person and the youngest Bharat Ratna Award
Winner.

Satellites launched by ISRO:

1) IRNSS : ISRO launched India’s 7th navigation satellite IRNSS 1G so far.

IRNSS is an independent regional navigation satellite system being developed by India. It
is designed to provide accurate position information service to users in India.

2) Aditya L1: ISRO gears up for launch of India’s first solar mission.

3) Chandrayaan: Chandrayaan-1 was India’s first lunar probe. it was launched by ISRO
in October 2008. Chandrayaan-2 will be launched in Feb 2019.

4) Mangalyaan: The Mars Orbiter Mission, also called Mangalyaan, is a space probe
orbiting Mars since 24 September 2014. It was launched on 5 november 2013 by the
ISRO.

5) GSAT Series: ISRO successfully launched India’s latest communication satellite

GSAT-29, ISRO’s heaviest satellite in November 2018.

6) INSAT series: Indian National satellite system is a series of multipurpose Geo-

stationary satellites launched by ISRO to satisfy the telecommunications,
broadcasting,meteorology, and search and rescue operations.

7) IRS series: remote sensing satellites.

8) India has created history by successfully launching 104 satellites on a single mission
in feb 2017, overtaking the previous record of 37 satellites launched by Russia in 2014.
