Subject: Car Wash Mt. Shasta

Dear Juliana,

I have become aware that once again, a car wash and storage facility is
being planned at or near the junction of Ski Village and Mt. Shasta Blvd.

The car wash is not in the best interest of our community, nor the
Headwaters where many many people visit from out of town in order to
view and get a taste of the amazing water that flows through the origin
of the Sacramento River.  I moved to this city 3 years ago, for many
reasons, one of them being the beauty of this quiet area with very little
light pollution at night, the purity of the water, and the overall
somewhat more enlightened community feeling of our beautiful town.
The era and time of businesses being given priority over the health,
welfare, and balance of a community - in order to make a profit is over.
We must individually and collectively act with integrity and the
conscious understanding that everything is connected in our world -
people, plants, animals, insects, businesses, the air, the water, the
earth, fire - everything.  Placing a car wash with storage facility in this
beautiful area not only causes these more natural areas to look cheap,
ugly, and more - where currently this north entrance to our town is
Beautiful, there are risks which include over utilization of our precious
water, contaminating our precious headwaters with the chemicals and
soap used in the car wash, and making this area look unnecessarily like a
industrial court, rather than the entrance to a town which relies on
tourists coming to this beautiful natural area for vacations, retreats
and more.  I do not know that I would have even considered visiting,
much less living here, if that business were open in that location.  And I
have brought many people into town since living here, and will continue,
as long as I feel it is in the highest and best interest of all.

Placing that business in that location will not bring our town more
financial resources (usually there are very few jobs created by such a
business - one or two at most).  I feel that it will greatly lessen the
financial resources of our town.

I urge you to really review the ramifications of placing this business in

this location.  Perhaps there is a more suitable location for this
business.  Perhaps our town stands for something different than the
will of its constituents.  Perhaps its time to really understand what
direction our town really wants to move into.  Please reject this location
for this business until you have made sure of the ramifications --
especially regarding the headwaters, the water tables, and importantly
- heard the will of the people who live in our town.

In gratitude for your service,

Karen Weismantle
