HOW CREATIVE IDEAS ARE FORMED

¹ Developing an original and creative idea requires the simultaneous activation of two completely
different networks in the brain: the associative -- "spontaneous" -- network alongside the more
normative -- "conservative" -- network; this according to new research conducted at the University of
Haifa.

²What do you do when you're struggling with a business problem that requires creativity? If you're like
most people, you sit at your desk at the office and get to work on the problem. You chew on pencils,
crumple up pieces of paper and take occasional breaks to pace or get another cup of coffee. But are the
ideas really coming? Some creative people can generate ideas anytime anywhere. But most of us have
certain activities that get our creative juices flowing. If you want to perform at your creative peak, you
need to identify these activities and use them to your advantage.

³ Defining Creativity and Innovation

Creativity is the act of turning new and imaginative ideas into reality. Creativity is characterised by the
ability to perceive the world in new ways, to find hidden patterns, to make connections between
seemingly unrelated phenomena, and to generate solutions. Creativity involves two processes: thinking,
then producing.

⁴Creativity is the greatest rebellion in existence. The creator cannot follow the well-trodden path. He has
to search out his own way, he has to inquire in the jungles of life.

5. Creativity is essential not only for artists, writers, musicians, etc., but also for business people,
students, and many others. Cultivating your creative powers takes time and effort, but can also be lots of
fun. Keep an open and an inquisitive mind, and you’ll be on your way to becoming a creative genius!

6.The truth is, no matter how much of an expert you are, creative block can happen to us all. In this
article, we look at how to beat creative block and how to generate new ideas.

While we know that a constant stream of ideas is important for anyone working in the creative industry,
the idea of this is hard to maintain. Not only do clients want new designs, solutions, or theories regularly,
most professionals want to be innovative and show their creative spirit.

But as anyone with that spirit will tell you, sometimes it escapes you. This creative block can be soul-
wrenching for anyone whose livelihood is dependent on their wits and creativity. But, in truth, writer’s or
artist’s block can easily be overcome.
7What is a creative idea? A mystical gift from your God? The discovery of something new? A profound
insight of almost spiritual proportions? An irritant to rational thinking? A creative idea can be any of
these things. But to understand creativity and how you have ideas, it helps to take a somewhat more
clinical perspective.

creative ideas is a means of finding a path to achieving a particular goal. A composer wishes to express
thoughts in a song, a scientist seeks to explain a natural phenomenon, a designer seeks ways to improve
a particular kind of product. Incidentally, you can also consider creativity as a means of solving problems,
but I prefer to work with goals. Anyway, the need to solve a problem is also a goal – so it's really the
same thing.

Even when a creative idea seems to come to you out of the blue, it is almost inevitably because it helps
you achieve a goal. You may not be consciously thinking about the goal, you may not even be terribly
interested in achieving the relevant goal, but you need to be aware of the goal in order to recognise the
creative idea.

8“Great ideas come when you aren’t trying to think of them.” Great ideas don’t happen when you want
them to. You can’t make them happen. However, you can set yourself and your environment up to be
ready for your next great idea.Ideas follow five simple steps:

Generate Document Organize Cull Execute

9Creativity comes out of the necessity to solve problems.Creativity comes anytime we need to question
the rules, status quo, or even ourselves.Creativity comes from many sources, including socialising,
problem solving and play. We are creative anytime the rules are not sufficient to achieve a desirable
outcome.creativity comes from each of us and our interactions with life, the universe and everything
else.

10 According to a study on freestyle rappers—a group who’s forced to think of creative lyrics on the spot
—researchers found that these artists were able to “deactivate” some of the most active parts of their
brain, to allow for better function in other areas where improvisation and creativity skills are located.
The average person’s mind is often too busy dealing with distractions and the “executive functions” of
the body to be creative, but when relaxed and free from distractions, the brain is more available to make
those connections.

“There is no such thing as a new idea. We simply take a lot of old ideas and put them into a sort of
mental kaleidoscope.”
