Charting Personal Directions

Purpose:

This course is designed to measure one’s motives, life-style architecture, and the critical quality of life
variables. It provides participants with a framework for attaining assessment data and powerful
feedback on how they see themselves in significant areas of their lives. Activities are included to help
individuals identify issues, consider changes, set goals, and implement actions that lead toward
improving the quality of their work and life-styles. This course will provide a useful platform and
support system for your career development and personal growth initiatives.

Outcomes:

• Evaluation of your current motives, options, and choices for change.


• Understanding of why and where you have decided to invest your energies.
• Clarifying what rewards you have received from those investments.
• Identify those life-sectors where you are currently gaining satisfaction or feeling dissatisfied.
• Framing strategies for reaching objectives while building on what you have already accomplished.
• Outline of a go-forward plan of action for enabling a successful career/life-style transition.

Engagement:

This course will consist of 6-weekly Telephonic and/or Skype sessions, 45 minutes each in length.
Participants will need to complete a background interview, an on-line assessment, exploration exercises,
and related readings to fulfill the requirements of this course. The total course fee is $ ___.00 plus an
additional fee of $150.00 for the on-line assessment instrument.

Course Facilitator:

Dr. Charles Hicks has a composite of thirty-five years of Experience and preparation in the field of
Human Resources Development within the business, non-profit, governmental, academic, and
community sectors. His corporate career assignments have included roles as an Industrial Social
Psychologist; Sr. HRD Specialist; Senior Consultant and Staff Psychologist of an international consulting
services firm. His academic career assignments have included roles as an Assistant Professor in the
School of Education; Counseling Psychologist and Career Development Center Coordinator in the
Division of Student Affairs at the California Polytechnic State University; and, extensive adjunct teaching
experience in the business and education departments at Duquesne University, Johns Hopkins
University, Towson State University, Morgan State University, and the University of Maryland Eastern
Shore. As a Senior Executive Coach, he has provided support to executives, leaders, team/project
managers, and individual contributors who seek to fulfill their career aspirations and professional
development goals while effectively addressing workplace challenges and achieving the goals of their
organization.
