Directions for Podcast Final Project:

1. Students will form pairs or triads and choose a profession where trigonometry (namely,
right angle trigonometry and graphing trigonometric functions) is used. Some examples
include architects, urban planners, and mechanical engineers.
2. Once teams are formed and a profession is chosen for research, let the instructor know
and get your topic approved.
3. Research into the profession and how they apply trigonometric concepts to their work.
4. Create a reference page with all research sources cited
5. Come up with an idea for how to present the information acquired through a 3-5-
minute podcast.
a. Students can do it in the form of an interview, where one student role plays as
the professional and the other team member(s) will interview them.
b. Students can also make it just an informative “Did you know?” type podcast. Be
creative!
6. OPTIONAL: Create a rough outline or script for the podcast (to help with flow—this will
not be turned it)
7. Create the podcast using Audacity or another recording application.
8. Edit and add sound effects to make the podcast engaging
9. Share one link per team to the Google Classroom page and attach reference page
10. Each individual team member will fill out the end of project survey,
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/K7SLKKS to input:
a. What they contributed to the project
b. An original trigonometry problem based on a scenario where the profession you
researched might use the concepts learned in class
