GeneXpert IV – Points to consider

• Separate screws at each step to ensure they return

to the appropriate place upon reassembly
• Take care of trapping cables at each step
• Do not use an electric screwdriver or over tighten
the small screws as they damage easily
• Do not over tighten the feet as this will cause the
doors to become difficult to open and close
• Be sure to reconnect to computer following

I-CORE module

- This is how the I-CORE module looks after it has been removed from the GeneXpert
- Note the new I-CORE modules for the GeneXpert R2 lack of the support frame that

Reassembly – Replacing I-CORE module

- In order to reassemble the GeneXpert, simply reverse the steps taken during disassembly
- However, please take note of the following steps and tips to ensure the instrument is correctly
reassembled
- Once again, take care of not crushing cables at each step and avoid over tightening the
screws

- When reinserting the module it is necessary to again tilt the module and ensure that the door
goes over the metal tab and that the black plastic base of the module comes through the hole

Reassembly – Replace outer case

- When reinserting the instrument into the outer

casing it is easier to place the instrument carefully
on its back, then lower the casing over it

- Due to ridges on the inside of the outer casing it

may be necessary to gently pull out the sides of
the casing as it is lowered over the instrument

Reassembly – Check doors

- Following reassembly, if the doors become difficult to open or close (there will be a clicking
noise and feel) then this indicates that the front feet have been replaced too tightly

- To solve the problem simply slightly loosen the screws on the front feet of the instrument until
the door operates freely

Reassembly – Check connection

- When reassembly is completed it is necessary to reconnect the instrument to the computer

and test that all modules are working and recognised by the computer

- The software will display each module as Available if all connections are good

- If the software cannot detect one or more modules then this indicates that there is a problem
with one or more of the connections
