REAPPRAISING ACCOUNTING

Aims and Scope

The Critical Perspectives Symposium provides a forum for exploring re-


search on emerging issues in accounting and auditing. The symposium
seeks original contributions that examine issues presently confronting
professionals, educators and scholars. The following are illustrative, but
not exhaustive, of the symposium themes: accounting, auditing and the
public sector; ecology and green accounting; gender relations and femin-
ist theories; international issues and accounting; pension and employee
benefits; healthcare accounting; management accounting developments;
FASB decision making; SEC interface and regulation; race and multicultu-
ral issues; regulatory failures; malpractice and competition; social and
organizational impacts of advanced information technologies; banking/S
& L failures and accounting.

Sponsors and Participants

Sponsors of previous symposia include Deloitte and Touche, BDO Seid-


man, The AAA Public Interest Section, Hofstra University, Baruch
College-CUNY, The Critical Perspectives on Accounting Journal and
SUNY Albany.

CPE Credits and Registration Fee

Participation in past symposia have earned 16 Continuing Professional


Education credits. The early bird registration fee is $195 ($220 after 8
February 1993).

Location and Dates

The symposium will be held in New York City on Friday through Sun-
day, 16-18 April 1993. Room rates will be announced at a future date as
negotiations are still underway with several New York hotels (last year’s
venue was the St Moritz-On-The-Park Hotel).

Submission Deadlines and Publication Support

Complete manuscripts, working papers, abstracts and panel proposals are


welcome. Early submissions are encouraged. The deadline is 15 January
1993. Authors will be advised promptly of the editorial panel’s decision
and no later than 8 February 1993. A selection of manuscripts will be
published in Critical Perspectives on Accounting and Advances in Public

THE 16TH ANNUAL CONGRESS OF THE


EUROPEAN ACCOUNTING ASSOCIATION
TURKU, FINLAND

28-30 April 1993

Invitation

Submission of research papers in accounting is invited for inclusion in the


programme of the 16th Annual Congress of the European Accounting
Association, Turku, Finland, 28-30 April 1993.

Guidelines for Submission

Submission of complete papers or abstracts should be sent by mail in


triplicate (in A4 format) to the address below prior to 4 December 1992.

Paper Selection

The aim of the Organizing Committee is to further upgrade the quality of the
papers presented at the Congress. The Scientific Committee will review
papers or abstracts submitted for presentations. Priority will be given to full
papers of high quality received before the deadline. The selection of papers
will be completed by the end of January. Each selected paper will be provided
half an hour for presentation and discussion.

Abstract

Each submission should be accompanied by an abstract in English. This


abstract will be included into the Congress Book distributed at the Congress.
The abstract should include the title of the paper, author(s) name(s) and
affiliation(s). It should be in A4 format, with a left margin of 4.5cm, right, top

and bottom margins of 2.5cm. The abstract should be typed single spaced, no
smaller than 10 point, and only one page in length.

Congress Material

Authors of accepted papers will be requested to make 30 copies of their paper


to be available at the start of their presentation.
