Good Morning Class! Good Morning Ma’am

Before we proceed to our lesson for this day, I


would like to ask... what comes in to your mind
when you see the word Virus and Reformat? Students answered “Computer”

The teacher writes the word Virus and Reformat


on the board. Some students raised their hands.

Very good! That is correct. Who owns a computer


here in their home? Students answered “Yes Ma’am.”

Great! I believe everyone here has used computers


in doing assignments, reports, and school projects.
Some are for leisure like Facebook, YouTube or
Online Games.
Student 1 answered: One time our computer just
won’t open an application.
Have you experienced any trouble sometimes like
when the computer is not responding?
Student 2 answered: There are multiple screens
that keeps on popping up and we cannot properly
use the computer.

Can someone share their experience and tell how Student 3 answered: We hired to a computer
the problem was resolved? techncian to check on it for us and we are told that
our computer needs to be reformatted in order to
fix the issue.

Operating System?”

Formatting a computer involves erasing all of the Student 4 asked: Ma’am what are the things that

but we will focus on Windows 7 since it’s the
most used operating system today.
*Product Keys are included in the package it
consist of 25 characters and will be asked later
during the installation process.

Will only be used if the computer or laptop has no
available CD Drive.
*Netbook and Tablet has no CD Drives.

So we have all that we need. Now class, not all


computer issues can be resolved by reformatting.
There are a lot of things that you need to check
out first. Sometimes it might be something to do
with the computer hardware or software.

reformat a computer:

1. You have built a computer and you must format


the hard drive so you can put an operating system
on it.

2. You have replaced your main hard drive and


the new one needs to be formatted.

3. Your computer has a black screen on startup.

4. You have a software problem that is too


detailed to fix.

5. You have a major virus that affects your files


and folders.

So what are the procedures on Reformatting a


Computer using Windows 7?

STEP 1 : BACK UP YOUR DATA Student 8 : Ma’am what is BIOS?


STEP 2 : SET YOUR BIOS TO BOOT FROM
CD OR FLASH DRIVE

BIOS
-(basic input/output system) is the program a
personal computer's microprocessor uses to get
the computer system started after you turn it on.

In order to access the BIOS you will need to


restart the computer. The key to do this will be
displayed and it varies by manufacturer.

The most common keys are:


F2
F10
F12
DEL

Now once clicked it will direct you to the BIOS Students raised their hands.

STEP 3 : BEGIN SETUP

STEP 4 : WATCH THE WINDOWS FILES

The Windows 7 logo will appear.

Time & Currency format, and Keyboard or input
method.
Select the appropriate options.

STEP 6 : CLICK INSTALL NOW


Setup will begin loading the files it needs to
continue.

STEP 7 : READ AND ACCEPT TERM


You must indicate that you have read and agree to
Microsoft’s terms of use.

STEP 8 : CHOOSE CUSTOM INSTALL


This will allow you to perform a clean
installation.

STEP 9 : SELECT THE HARD DISK


A window will open asking where you would like
to install Windows 7.

STEP 10 : WAIT WHILE WINDOWS


INSTALL FILES
This part of the process take up to 30 minutes.
Windows will automatically restart your computer
when finished.

STEP 11 : ENTER YOUR USERNAME AND


COMPUTER NAME
Your username will be used to log in to the
computer and personalize your account.

STEP 12 : ENTER YOUR PRODUCT KEY


This is the 25-character key that came with your
copy of Windows.

STEP 13 : SELECT YOUR WINDOWS


UPDATE OPTION
This is recommended to make sure that your copy
of Windows runs stably.

STEP 14 : SELECT YOUR DATE AND TIME


These should be correct already as they are linked
to your BIOS.
STEP 15 : EXPLORE YOUR DESKTOP
After one final loading screen, your new
Windows 7 desktop will appear. Installation is
now complete.

D) Integration

With these steps done, your computer is


now back to its default state. You will now be
able to reformat computers and save a lot by
doing it by yourself but more importantly this is
an added skill that you can use to generate
income.

E) Group Activity

Handouts cut outs that includes the Steps


on Reformatting a Computer. The first group to
finish arranging and has the most correct steps
will be the winner.
