I am a quality-oriented individual who recently completed a bachelors degree from the

University of Utah in Parks Recreation & Tourism with an emphasis in Therapeutic
Recreation.Throughout my life I have gained many different experiences which have enabled
me to cultivate a set of skills I believe align perfectly with that of an Adaptive Recreation
Programmer for the City of Eugene. Through nearly ten years working as a youth mountain
biking coach for the Young Riders program in Park City, Utah I have learned how to effectively
and safely lead groups in an outdoor setting given strict time constraints and variable weather
conditions. When necessary I am well equipped to make decisions in order to maintain the
safety of my participants, while also allowing my groups the autonomy to select between two or
three predetermined options when appropriate. I believe this freedom promotes camaraderie
which therefore adds value to the group’s accomplishments. Coaching for Young Riders is only
one example of how my experiences translate into skills which I will continue to develop and
implement throughout my career as a Recreational Therapist.

I believe wholeheartedly that everyone should have the opportunity to engage in leisure
experiences which promote health and well-being. Through the position of Adaptive Recreation
Programmer with the City of Eugene I intend to implement my skills in creating a safe and
inclusive environment while facilitating positive leisure experiences for participants in order to
