CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of the Study

Technology nowadays has really developed. One example of technology that is in demand is
mobile phone or cellular phone. It is a medium, used for communication, entertainment, business, and

it is handy, mobile phones or cellular phones are more affordable than laptops, and tablets addition to
that is, it is easy to manipulate. Teenagers or the youth is clearly seen as the top users of this device.
They are with their mobile phones or cellular phones, it may be on their hands, or inside their pockets.
Aside from this is a trend in today's world, it is a part of someone's day-to-day routine.

School-related task is primarily a requirement for a student to be complied. It is a tool used by a


teacher or instructor to assess or to determine the student's comprehension regarding the topics
discussed or topics that will be discussed.

This prompted the student researchers to determine the levels of dependency to mobile phones
or cellular phones in doing school-related tasks by the SHS Students of BCC s. y 2019-2020.

1.2 Statement of the Problem

The main purpose of the study is to determine the level of dependency to mobile phones in doing
school-related tasks by Senior High School students of Binalbagan Catholic College.

Specifically, this study aims to answer the following questions:

1. How much is the significant level of dependency to mobile phones among the Senior High School
students in doing school-related tasks?

2. What is the the approximate number of hours the students spend in using phones for school-
related tasks?

3. To what extent does the students' dependency to mobile phones reach?

Statement of the Objectives

The main goal of the study is to determine the level of dependency to mobile phones in doing
school-related tasks by Senior High School students of Binalbagan Catholic College.
Specifically, it seeks to answer the following objectives:

1. To determine the level of dependencies to mobile phones in doing school-related tasks.

2. To identify the approximate number of hours the students spend in using phones for school-related
tasks.

3. To investigate the extent of students' dependency to mobile phones.

Hypothesis

1. There is a significant level of dependencies to mobile phones of students in doing school-related


task.

2. There is an approximate number of hours they spent in doing school- related tasks with their
mobile phones.

3. There is an extent of student dependencies to mobile phones in doing school-related tasks.

Scope and Limitations

This study will focus on determining the level of dependencies of grade 11 students to mobile
phones in doing school related task. The scope area of this study is the Grade 11 students of
Binalbagan Catholic College. This study tries to understand the use of mobile phones as a tool for
school works. This will be conducted through the utilization of questionnaires to the students as a
survey and reference.
