July 28, 2019
Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

The Shrine has two different programs relating to spiritual direction/companionship. First, through the Spiritual
Companionship Program, the seeker/directee and a companion discern the sacred presence of God in a prayerful,
peaceful and trusting atmosphere. People of all faiths are welcome. Second, through the Franciscan Spiritual
Direction Certificate Program, candidates are prepared to be the companions of the first program. Candidates go
through a two-year program of study and practicum one Saturday a month.

With regard to the Franciscan Spiritual Direction Certificate Program, the Shrine currently has two needs. Our
advanced students need some practicum time. So we are looking for a few good people who would be interested
sharing your spiritual journey with them, and allowing them to companion you one-on-one. There is no charge
and the students are supervised by senior staff and associates. This is a chance to talk over the development of
your spiritual life and relationship with God in a safe and confidential environment.

If you are already in spiritual direction and are looking to become a director, we are currently accepting
applications for a new class in the Spiritual Direction Training Program beginning in September. It meets once a
month on Saturdays. If you are interested in either of these opportunities, please contact Carol Mitchell at
cmitchell@stanthonyshrine.org or 617-542-6440, ext. 198.
