Garter tab cast-on
Cable stitches without a cable needle (demonstration of 1/2 RC and 1/2 LC)

Pattern

CO 3 sts. Knit 6 rows. Turn work 90 degrees
and pick up 3 sts along the edge. Turn work 90
degrees again and pick up 3 sts along CO
edge. You will have 9 sts on the needle.
Rep. rows 1 and 2 until you have 53 sts on the
needle. Work row 1 once more (57 sts), then
on row 2, work k3, sm, pfb, p until 1 st before
last marker, pfb, sm, k3 (59 sts).

Set-up rows: K3, pm, p1, pm, p1, pm, p1,
pm, k3. (4 st markers total)
Row 1 (RS): K3, sm, yo, k to marker, sm,
yo, k to marker, yo, sm, k tomarker, yo, sm,
k3. (4 sts increased)
Row 2 (WS): K3, sm, p to last marker, sm,
k3.
Lace Border
You will be working this next section without
increasing (so remove the stitch markers as you
come to them) and you will not be continuing
the 3 stitch garter edgings. Work stitch pattern
rows [1-18]. Pattern is repeated twice each
row. BO and block swatch.
