Super Dual Band

Microwave Solution
Challenges on LTE Backhaul Networks
Existing microwave link bandwidths can no longer support
ever-escalating requirements for LTE backhaul capacity.
Spectrum resources of common frequency bands are proving
insufficient, making capacity expansion increasingly more difficult.
Limited transmission distance of E-band microwave cannot meet
medium-distance transmission requirements of macro base stations.

Faced with the challenges,

Huawei, the leader in microwave industry,

launches the Super Dual Band microwave solution.

Super Dual Band delivers the latest in cross-band aggregation technology. EPLA, AM, and
QoS enable integration of common-band microwave (6 to 42 GHz) and E-band microwave
(71 to 76 and 81 to 86 GHz) into one solution to support large bandwidth and
long-distance transmission.

Architecture
Main components of the Super Dual Band solution:
RTN XMC ODU, RTN 380/380H (E-band), and RTN 900 IDU

Benefits
With E-band microwave, air interface throughput reaches 5
Gbps to 10 Gbps.
Common-band microwave ability to resist rain fade means
the availability requirements on E-band can be reduced to
99.9%, while the combination achieves a transmission
distance of up to 10 km.
EPLA, AM, and QoS technologies guarantee 99.999%
availability of core services.
