Lesson Plan in Technology and Livelihood Education

Prepared by: CHRISTAMHE L. PAILAGAO

I. Learning objectives
At the end of the session, students should be able to
 Solve for each variables in ohm’s law
 Described what happens to the current of a circuit when either the voltage and
resistance is increased or decreased
II. Subject Matter
 OHM’S LAW(BASIC ELECTRICITY)
III. Materials
 Visual Aids
IV. Procedure
a. Daily routines
 Classroom management
 Greeting
 Prayer
 Checking of attendance
 Reviewing the past lesson
b. Motivation
The teacher will ask the following question as a mind opener to the students from the topic
today.
 Where would we be today without electricity?
 How does electricity work?
c. Lesson Proper
The teacher will now introduce the topic.
What is ohms law?
 This law will explain the basic relationship of voltage, current and resistance.
 Formulated by George Simon ohm.

ACCORDING TO OHM’S LAW

 The amount of current varies directly with the applied voltage and varies inversely with the
resistance.
 Current is directly proportional to the voltage applied to the circuit and inversely proportional to
the resistance in the circuit.
 When the resistance of a circuit is constant:
 Current will increase when the voltage is increased:
 Current will decrease when the voltage is decreased.
 When the voltage is constant:
 Current will increase when the resistance is decreased
 Current will decrease when resistance is increased.

THREE FACTORS OF A CIRCUIT:

1. PRESSURE = VOLTAGE = E
2. CURRENT= AMPERE = I
3. RESISTANCE= OHM = R
FORMULA:
PRESSURE VOLTS E
CURRENT= AMPERE= I=
RESISTANCE OHMS R

VOLTAGE= CURRENT X RESISTANCE VOLTS= AMPERE X OHMS E= I X R

PRESSURE VOLTS E
RESISTANCE= OHMS= R=
CURRENT AMPERE I

Further discussion about the formula through this illustration

Discussion on how to solve simple problems using ohm’s law

SAMPLE PROBLEM:
How much current flows through a lamp which has 240 ohms of resistance, when a pressure of 120 volts is
applied to it’s terminal?
Given:
E= 120 volts
R= 240 ohms
I=?
The coil of relay has a resistance of 600 ohms. If a current of 80 ampere must be passed through this coil to
cause this relay to operate, how much voltage must be applied?
Given:
I= 80 ampere
R= 600 ohms
E= ?

How much resistance must an electric station have if it has taken 8 amperes, when applied from a 120 volt
circuit?
Given:
E= 120 volts
I= 8 ampere
R= ?
D. Generalization
The teacher will ask some question about the topic as a review

 When the resistance of a circuit is constant. What happen to the current and voltage?
 When the voltage is constant. What happen to current and resistance?
 Who formulated ohms law?
 What is the formula in finding voltage?
 What is the formula in finding resistance?
 What is the formula in finding current?

E. Evaluation
Direction: solve the following problems using ohm’s law

2. Solve for the applied voltage if the current is 6 amperes and the resistance is 3 ohms?
3. What is the resistance of a circuit when 24 volts is flowing in the circuit with a current of 8 amperes?
F. Agreement
1. Research the following questions:
