The mining industry is considered a major
contributor to the growth of the Indian
economy. The mining business unit of the Adani
group was established in 2007 as the last link in
ensuring energy security for India. We are also
developing and operating mines in Indonesia
and Australia.
Our extractive capacity of thermal coal has
increased to a great extent and we aim to achieve
our goal of 100 MMTPA of coal mining operations
by 2020, making Adani one of the largest mining
groups in this segment.

With the world moving away from the depleting
sources of fossil fuels, investments in the
renewable energy sector has been steadily
increasing over the last few years. The Indian
government has set a target to install 175GW of
renewable power capacity by 2022. Out of that,
100 GW will be Solar PV and 60 GW will be
Wind power.
Since then, the organization has raised its
benchmark: its 648 MW solar power plant in

(CGD) networks to supply Piped Natural Gas

friendly fuel that allows consumers to enjoy
a high level of safety, convenience and

Adani Group invests about 2% of its total
profit in various social initiatives through
its CSR arm, Adani Foundation. Adani
Foundation is an intrinsic part of Adani
Group’s efforts towards Corporate Social
Responsibility. It exhibits the humane,
compassionate and benevolent face of
the company. Adani Foundation has been
working relentlessly across 13 states,
covering 20 locations and 1470 villages,
towards uplifting the lives of more than
5,00,000 families. Adani Foundation
primarily focuses on 4 core areas namely:
1. Education – Adani Foundation follows
a holistic approach towards providing
quality education to meritorious students
belonging to weaker sections of society.
Adani Vidya Mandir, a model school, set up
at 3 locations, provides cost free education
to about 2000 students annually.
Subsidised quality education is provided
to 2400 students annually through, 2
Adani Vidyalayas, 2 Adani Public Schools,
and Navchetan Vidyalaya. A total of 300
government schools and balwaadis are
provided necessary support benefitting
approximately 1, 00,000 children.
2. Community Health – Adani Foundation
is continuously striving to make
necessary health care accessible and
affordable to the underprivileged. GAIMS
(Gujarat Adani Institute of Medical
Sciences) at Bhuj, is a first ever PPP
model in medical education. A 750-bed
hospital attends to around 1500 patients
and conducts an average of 40 surgeries
each day. Schemes providing health
cards to senior citizens and medical
insurance have benefitted more than
7000 elderly and 2000 families. Our 15
Mobile Health Care units and 12 Rural
Health Clinics, along with various
diagnostic and medical camps treat
around 3,50,000 people annually.
3. Sustainable Livelihood Development –
Adani Foundation has been providing
livelihood support to the marginalised and
needy communities with an aim to
improve their quality of life. Training on
scientific farming techniques such as drip
irrigation, SRI, was provided to more than
3000 farmers covering a total of 6000
hectares of land, aiding them in boosting
their income levels. During the
non-fishing months, 2500 fishermen are
engaged in alternative livelihood
activities.
4. Rural Infrastructure Development –
Adani Foundation, having identified local
infrastructure needs, is developing rural
infrastructure to create a scalable
environment of inclusive growth. Under
this initiative, 21 check dams, more than
700 housing units for BPL families, 335
potable water facilities, community halls,
public toilets, approach roads, are
constructed and provided to communities
thereby creating a positive impact.
Special Projects:
1. Swachhagraha – A national project to
inculcate culture of cleanliness amongst
the masses. With a team of more than
35,000 Swacchagrahis, we are
spreading the message of cleanliness
and hygiene across 12 states, 2700
schools and reaching around 70,000
people each month.
2. Suposhan – A special project of Adani
Foundation to fight malnutrition and
anaemia, a common issue amongst
children and adolescent girls. Suposhan
Sanginis implement this project across
14 sites, 309 villages, totalling 90,565
households. More than 30,000 children
and approximately 1,00,000 women of
reproductive age are screened annually.
Around 20,000 families and 1,40,000
women are regularly counselled by
Sanginis to bring about a behavioural
change.
3. Saksham – Adani Skill Development
Corporation (ASDC) undertakes skill based
training programme for the youth, thereby
making them employable. ASDC operates
8 fully owned centres and 7 centres in
partnership model across 6 states
offering training courses with a capacity
to skill 20,000 youth annually. ASDC is the
first in the country to offer courses such
as simulator-based crane operation, 3D
printing, and welding through augmented
reality. ASDC has over 70% placement
ratio of trained students.
4. Udaan – A project for inspiring young
minds to dream big. The project gives an
opportunity to the school kids to visit our
business locations spread across 5
states and broaden their horizon in the
terms of career opportunities. This
project is conducted round the year,
where more than 2,11,000 students from
2,750 institutes have participated.

Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S)
Policy and a Safety Manual, and has also
identified the Legal Requirements in the
legal register, as well as in Operation and
Maintenance activities. There is a
Corporate Safety Group under the CEO’s
guidance, monitoring safety at all sites.
In a nutshell, all possible safety
precautions are being observed and taken
into consideration to meet the global
standards in safety management systems.
Our sites go beyond statutory
requirements to achieve continual
improvement year after year. This effort
has been recognised in the form of awards
and accolades from many organisations
and safety forums.

Environment
Helping India meet its energy needs
while minimising the impact on the
environment is a big challenge. We
protect biodiversity in ecologically
sensitive areas like Mundra where we
have conserved and extended mangrove
forests.
We were the first power company in India
to use ‘supercritical’ technology to
reduce CO2 emissions, an initiative that
won us the Clean Development
Certification from the United Nations
Framework Convention on Climate
Change (UNFCCC).
In addition, we operate one of the largest
solar power projects in India. We are at
