ABSTRACT

The purpose of this experiment is to explore the mathematics behind projectile motion and
free fall motion. A ball with known, different initial velocities will be projected from a known height.
Measurements of the travelled distance will be taken, and conclusions correlating
experimental results with known formulas will be drawn.

INTRODUCTION
SCHEMATIC PROCEDURE

A. Projectile Motion

Set Up the
Apparatus.

Drop Picket Fence through the Photogate Head.

Record data using Xplorer GLX.

Do five trials

Compute Percent Error.

B. Projectile Motion

Set Up the
Apparatus.

Insert plastic ball in projectile Launcher.

Run timing program of the Xplorer GLX.

Place a meter tape on floor.

Fire launcher five times.

Calculate horizontal and vertical displacement.

Record Data

Calculate Percent Difference.
