g a) The student will represent and identify equivalencies among fractions and
Objectiv decimals, with and without models.
e
Complete the following sentences:

1. The online course I’m teaching in for this activity is asynchronous.

Pedagogy Planning

2. In this online activity, my online students will use a simulation on equivalent fractions to
have an individual experience based upon their unique choices. Each child’s end result will be
different, and I will grade them online by their screenshot submission.

Online The students will review the concept of equivalent fractions learned in the prior
Activity grades by watching videos and recorded lectures on how to identify and create
equivalent fractions.
The teacher will post videos and record lectures prior to the start of the unit and
offer them through their google classroom.
The students will have a to-do list how to complete their asynchronous online unit.
This will allow the teacher to differentiate material for each individual student.
After the student has watched some introduction videos, there will be an activity
sheet to complete before, during, and after the GIZMO online activity (see attached
pdf link). The Equivalent Fractions GIZMO provides a platform for the exploration of
fractions using fraction tiles.
The teacher will offer a video recording through screen-cast-o-matic to show the
students how to enter the GIZMO website:
1. Students will click on the following link https://www.explorelearning.com/ that is
provided in their google classroom.
2. They will click on the login/enroll tab and enter the classroom code XXCWVM and
log in with their username and password (provided by the teacher).
3. The students will launch the gizmo and work on their simulation activity following
the Student Exploration sheet.
The student will create five different unit fractions and put them in order from least
to greatest. Then, the student will make five different fractions with denominator 5
and put them in order from least to greatest. Finally, students will create equivalent

fractions to the given fraction tiles and will simplify fraction tiles.
After the simulation, the students should have a better knowledge about equivalent
fractions. They will then make their own fraction tiles. Students will cut out fraction
tiles and use them to create their own equivalent fraction matches. The student will
provide the teacher with pictures of their paper tiles and upload them on google
classroom. The teacher will also be able to grade the student activity by receiving
screenshots from each individual student as well as by collecting the GIZMO student
activity sheet (see attached PDF). The student will send a screenshot for Activity A
1.a, 2.a, and Activity B 2, and Activity C 1.a.
