ACTIVITY 2: CREATE A GOOGLE SITES APP PORTFOLIO

Create a public app portfolio for showcasing the apps and other work you do in class (or in your self-
study). An easy way to create a web site is to use Google Sites, which allows for quick and easy web
site creation. The following instructions provide a Google Sites Template which will help in the design
of your portfolio.

1. In a browser, go to sites.google.com or type the site in the URL:

2. Click the Sign in to Google Sites with your Google Account in no. 1 instruction.

3. Sign in to continue to Google Sites.

4. Click the Create button on the left side.

5. Once you click the create button, there will be two options of sites that you can create, just click
the in classic Sites to create your App Portfolio.
6. On the create screen, click the Browse the gallery for more Template.

7. Click Public on the left side bar, then type App Inventor on the Search bar.
8. Then select the Sample App Inventor Portfolio.

9. Click the Select button below.

10. Type your name in the Name your site. Ex. Mayleen’s App Portfolio, then click I’m not a robot
below.

11. Select your theme in the Select a theme drop down menu below, then click Create. Your Google
Sites App will now appear.
12. You may now click your Google Sites App Portfolio.

13. When the site comes up, you’ll see a sample profile. Change the picture and the information in
the profile. Provide a description of yourself suitable for this context. Click the Edit Icon at the
upper right corner of your site, then click the profile picture, click the X button below to remove
the picture.
14. Click the Insert at the menu button then click the image that you want to upload as your
Profile picture. Edit also all the information on the right side.

15. If you have save picture in your computer click Upload Images button below,
then select the picture you want to post. Wait until the picture be uploaded then click OK below.
16. Once you’re done, don’t forget to save your work by clicking the Save button. If you want to add
your different sample activity click again the edit button and insert the pictures of your different
sample activity.

17. The template has a table of apps with two sample apps below. This is where you’ll put pictures
of the apps or other activities you create.
18. You may improve and manage your app portfolio through clicking more actions (m)
at the upper right side of your Google sites.

19. The Manage Site Form will appear, you may modify and enhance your work through clicking the
different buttons in this site.
20. If you want to edit your themes and add different colors and fonts click the Themes, Colors and
Fonts at the left side pane of your Google Sites. Once you’re done click the Save button, then
select again your App Portfolio at the left side pane of your Google Sites.

21. Your Home page will appear, you may click the edit button at the upper right side
of your Google sites then modify again your template by adding different information.
22. Click the Share button at the upper right side of your Google Sites and share your
Google Sites App Portfolio to me by sending it to my Gmail Account.

23. Click the Share link via Gmail and send it to my Gmail Account.

24. Specify the work you do each week on Checklist pages within your portfolio. You should list and
describe your work on the checklist pages and link to other pages.
