Chapter I: The Project Introduction

A. The Background of the Study

Sweet treats is a full-service cafe located in Hampton Gardens in C. Raymundo Ave.. The
cafe features a full menu of moderately priced homemade coffee product (iced coffee with
coffee jelly) and homemade pastries (cookies, etc.). The cafe section of Sweet Treats features
a cafe with a dessert bar, pastries, and space for some quiet time.

Sweet Treats cafe is determined to become a daily necessity for local coffee and pastry/
sweets addicts, a place to dream of as you try to escape the daily stresses of life and just
a comfortable place to meet your friends or to read a book, to study, all in one. With the growing
demand for high-quality homemade pastries, coffee and great service, Sweet Treats will
capitalize on its proximity to the busy road of C. Raymundo Ave. to build a group of repeat
customers. Sweet Treats will offer its customers the best coffee in the area that will be
complimented with homemade pastries, as well as free books that its patrons can read to enjoy
their visit.

The name of the company Sweet Treats Cafe was formed from the intention of the owners
which is to provide a high-quality homemade sweet treats and coffee so that it can be easily
remembered and recognized by the future customers of this business. The logo that we made
has a bread and a cup of coffee to represent the products of the cafe.
B. Project Name and Proponents

Project Name

The business name came from the product itself, pastries


(sweets) and coffee. The owners made this kind of logo
because they want it to be remembered and easily
recognized by the customers. The main product of this café
are homemade cookies, cakes and other pastries partnered
which can be partnered with iced coffee or coffee jelly served
by the café.

C. Management and Legal Aspects

1. Type of Business Organization

Sweet Treats Café is a business in food industry selling sweet treats such
as cakes, cookies, and other sweet pastries which can be partnered with
coffees such as iced coffee, coffee jelly or other drinks made with coffee served
by the café. Having a café business has a lot of handling and services which
the owners of the café chose a partnership type of business organization.

A partnership is a type of business organization in which there are more than


one individual owning a business. It usually consists of 2 to 10 individuals
sharing investments in a business or company. The owners in a partnership are
called partners. General partner and limited partner are the two types of
partnership when it comes to liability. The general partner has big shares than
the limited partner. General partner and industrial partner are the two types of
partner when it comes to management.

The partners are divided into the work they are most fond of and also
according to their shares and investments. The partners want the café to be
well-maintained and gives good products and services to keep the business at
good condition when it comes to gaining profit, giving service, and of course
selling delicious products to the customers.

2. Personnel (Administration)

Allaine Selah Magpantay is the general partner of the Sweet Treats Café
sharing 35% of investments in the business. The position of general manager
suits her being an executive who has overall responsibility for managing and
responsible for the overall performance of an organization.

Nicole Infante is a limited partner of the Sweet Treats Café sharing 30% of
investments in the business. The position of operation manager suits her being
a part of a management team such as setting training standards and hiring
procedures. Her position also analyzes and improves organizational processes,
and work to improve quality, productivity and efficiency.
Keith Geno Leal is also a limited partner of the Sweet Treats Café sharing
15% of investments in the business. His position in the business as human
resource manager plans, directs, and coordinates functions of an organization.
He is the one who manages the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of new staff
and also consults with top executives on strategic planning and serve as a link
between an organization's management and its employees.

Rooged Abrenica is a limited partner of the Sweet Treats Café who is also
sharing 15% of investments in the business. His position in the business as
functional manager is responsible for a task, activity, or operation such as
accounting, marketing, sales, production, information technology, or logistics.

Wendell Esguerra is a limited partner of the Sweet Treats Café which shares
5% of investments in the business. His position in the business as frontline
manager is responsible for managing employees who are not managers which
can be found at the lowest level of the management hierarchy.
D. Location or Site of the Business

The location of the Sweet Treats Café is located at the Hampton Gardens at C
Raymundo Avenue, Pasig City. The café is selling delicious pastries and drinks for
everyone and has a calming environment for the customers to stay for a drink or a place
for students to study while enjoying a cup of coffee or eating a deliciously made pastry
from the Sweet Treats Café. It can also be a perfect place to meet up with your friends,
held a meeting, and to relieve stress because of the peace of the environment partnered
with a sweet treat from the café. Sweet Treats Café is for everyone regardless of gender,
age, or status because it sells affordable delicious treats.
