Instructional Planning

(The process of systematically planning, developing, evaluating and managing the instructional process by
using principles of teaching and learning - D.O. 42, s. 2016)
Detailed Lesson Plan/ Daily Lesson Log
School Jimenez National Comp. Senior HS Grade Level 11
Teacher Kaye . Nillo Learning Area Earth Science
Time & Dates June 17-18, 2019 Quarter 1st

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards the subsystems (geosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere) that make up the
Earth
B. Performance Standards The learners shall be able to… make a concept map and use it to explain how the
geosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere are interconnected
C. Learning Competencies
The learners:
1. describe the historical development of theories that explain the origin of the
Universe

The LC code for each S11/12ES-Ib-4

Objectives.
II. CONTENT Earth and Earth Systems
III. LEARNING RESOURCES
A. References Earth Science Texbook

1. Teacher’s Guide pages Page 12-15

2. Learner’s Materials pages
3. Textbook pages
4. Additional Materials from
Learning Resource (LR) portal
B. Other Learning Resources Internet Source
V. PROCEDURES
*Prayer
Introductory Activity * Checking of Attendance
* Review of the previous lesson
Activity/Strategy Show a picture to the class. Let the learners, label the different processes
and phases of water involved in the water cycle.
Use the following terms to complete the cycle: - condensation -
precipitation - evaporation - transpiration - infiltration - surface run-off
Analysis Ask the learners what they know about or have experienced regarding El
Niño.
2. Briefly explain the El Niño phenomenon. Emphasize that it starts with
the unusual warming of the central Pacific Ocean accompanied by the
weakening of the trade winds. The warming of the central Pacific Ocean
results to an eastward shift of the low pressure area (away from the Indo
Pacific)
Abstraction Using the diagram of the earth system, let the students interrelate the
icons to each other.

HOTS: “How is everything connected to everything else?”

“Why do earths subsystem boundaries matter?”
The teacher will introduce and discuss about the four subsystem in class
including its components.
Atmosphere
Biosphere
Geosphere
Hydrosphere
Application Activity: Subsystem Interactions
Using picture analysis to identify how energy and mass is exchanged
among the subsystems. Use different types of lines and boxes to
differentiate between matter or materials and energy. Use arrows to
indicate the interaction among components.
Key Questions:
How does matter and energy flow during interaction of the Earths
Subsystem?

The learners will present and explain their picture analysis in front of the
class.
Assessment The students will make a concept map on the interactions between the
four subsystems of the earth and how these interactions contribute and
affects each of the subsystem.
Assignment/Agreement How did humans alter the atmosphere, biosphere, geosphere and
hydrosphere?
What are the importance of the interactions between the subsystems?
V. REMARKS
Indicate special cases
including but not limited to
continuation of lesson plan to
the following day in case of
re-teaching or lack of time,
transfer of lesson to the
following day, in cases of
class suspension, etc.
VI. REFLECTION
Reflect on your teaching and
assess yourself as a teacher.
Think about your student’s
progress. What works? What
else needs to be done to help
the students learn? Identify
what help your instructional
supervisors can provide for
you so when you meet them,
you can ask them relevant
questions. Indicate below
whichever is/are appropriate.
A. No.of learners who earned
80% on the formative
assessment.
B. No.of learners who require
additional activities for
remediation.
C. Did the remedial lessons
work? No.of learners who
have caught up with the
lesson.
D. No.of learners who
continue to require
remediation
E. Which of my teaching
strategies worked well? Why
did these work?
F. What difficulties did I
encounter which my principal
or supervisor can help me
solve?
G. What innovation or
localized materials did I
use/discover which I wish to
share with other teachers?
